Similar to Miller mentioned first in this article, it’s the aggression that Allen has been playing with that has stood out most. He’s never had an issue of looking the part as his 6’7″-6’8″ frame that features broad shoulders and a developed base has always allowed him to establish an inside presence. However in years past, I always left wanting more from Allen and over the weekend, it was clear he was playing with a bit of edge and purpose to him that overwhelmed his matchups as he bullied them under the rim before laying it in. He was tracking offensive rebounds consistently and even threw down a couple that he timed perfectly to flush down with one hand. Defensively he was more locked in and moving his feet swiftly on high ball screens and effectively recovering back to his man rolling to the rim with high hands to block any potential passing windows.

Allen, a forward out of Springfield Commonwealth Academy in Massachusetts, makes his first appearance on the Watch List after transferring into the region to attend SCA. The 6’8″ forward is an impressive athlete that uses his combination of size, length, and bounce to finish with authority on one end and to protect the rim on the other. His activity level, on both ends of the floor, stands out as he’s a quality rim runner in transition that also does a nice job of guarding in space with his fluidity.

Was intrigued with Jaylen throughout the season. Jaylen proved to be a beast in the paint with his unique blend of size, mobility, and fluidity. He showed natural instincts around the basket, controlled the glass on both ends, and finished with touch and control. Whether altering shots, grabbing tough rebounds, or converting in traffic, Allen’s presence was felt all game long. With his tools and growing skillset, he’s one who should continue to earn attention throughout the summer with his production.

Allen’s athleticism and scoring ability made him a key player for St. Frances. His contributions on both ends of the court were vital to his team’s performance. Strong young 4 man affects the game on the glass, blocking shots, and defending in the paint. He has long arms and nice athleticism. His energy level is tough for opposing players to match so he usually wins the matchup in the paint. He is raw offensively but can finish around the rim either when he gets offensive rebounds or when he receives the ball from his teammates.

-An athletic W/F tweener that Coach Myles can deploy as a play-finisher and rebounder, Allen has had some standout performances as SFA has raced out to a 13-2 start to the season. Allen is still fairly new to the game but plays with a physical aggressiveness that has earned him early minutes for one of the area’s most potent offenses. Will be interesting to see if he grows and develops into a skilled forward or an athletic 3+D wing but either way, he is a name to know in 2028.

-Allen impressed this summer for the Panthers as a raw W/F tweener that rebounds the ball at a high level, provides weakside rim protection, finishes well above the basket, and is capable of taking most forwards off the bounce. His touch around the basket is developing nicely on floaters, putbacks, and layups off last-second passes from PGs in the dunker’s spot.
