That approach has changed since the portal era has begun, but judging off the last couple of freshmen classes an the impact they've had at the college level from day one, anyone who says high school recruiting is dead is wrong. The first live period doesn't take place for another month, but we're getting ahead putting together updates within the top-10 prospects of our 2027 class and the recent happenings within each of their recruitments. For this article, we'll feature six names and circle back to tackle the rest when significant updates are available.

Lyons is coming off Team USA Basketball Minicamp earlier this month in Indianapolis where he caught attention from the national level as his stock continues to rise. The dynamic, crafty lead guard brings plenty of aspects to the table that not only garner the prestigious invite to minicamp, but also the interest from some of the more recognizable brands at the college level. Lyons, who one Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year, has been offered by the likes of Alabama, Indiana, Maryland, Tennessee, VCU, and Virginia among others. Look for that list to grow quickly as he hits the floor with [program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'] on the EYBL Circuit this spring/summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353561' first='Brandon' last='Woodard'] | Bishop McNamara/[program_tooltip program_id='2078457' first='Team' last='Durant']

Woodard has already been a highlight reel waiting to happen as we are just two weeks through the month of April. In the fast-paced, transition heavy style that the grassroots season offers, you can expect to see him quite a bit throughout your social media timelines finishing eye-popping dunks in the open floor, hunting poster put-back slams off offensive rebounds and swatting shots defensively as if he was spiking a volleyball. Rutgers has been a program that has invested time and effort into Woodard over the last 1-2 years. They remain consistent up to this point while Miami is a newer programs getting into the fold for the high-flyer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407095' first='Zion' last='Green'] | Mt. Zion Prep/As Promised

Green has commanded much attention due to his unique blend of size, skill and fluidity. At 6-foot-8, he possesses the ball skills that are rare for a prospect his size and after a productive season playing a national schedule being featured on the the Grind Session, Green has been hearing most from Alabama, Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Villanova. Green will be one of the premier names featured on the PRO16 Circuit this spring and summer running with As Promised.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353547' first='Jymin' last='Veney'] | St. John's/[program_tooltip program_id='2078457' first='Team' last='Durant']

Veney used the final month or so of the high school season not only helping St. John's to a WCAC title appearance and a DC State Championship, but also bolstering his individual recruitment. The 6-foot-4 combo guard presents positional size, a skillset with a strong fundamental foundation and the improvements within his efficiency as a scorer are all reasons why the late season success helped lift the Cadets as one of the top programs in the DMV for 2025-26. Veney's most recent offer came from Maryland, as other programs such as George Mason, George Washington, Indiana, and St. Joseph's among others remain involved. Veney made the switch from [program_tooltip program_id='2076999' first='Team' last='Melo'] to [program_tooltip program_id='2078457' first='Team' last='Durant'] and will prepare to be a primary offensive option for this 17s group.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353562' first='Ian' last='Condon'] | Sidwell Friends/[program_tooltip program_id='2076999' first='Team' last='Melo']

Condon is a name that has picked up some momentum as of late as well and it stems with his presence as a routine double-double threat. Despite being slightly undersized if you're projecting him at the high major level, Condon makes up for any worries with his ability to move his feet in open space against smaller, quicker matchups and tap into his brute strength in establishing and maintain leverage against bigs. On the offensive side, he can operate in the mid-post, bully his way to the rim with his back to the basket and arguably the most important thing in today's game, step outside and knock down the three-ball. He's at the center of the crossroads where old-school, lunch pale bruiser meets skilled forward with touch and basketball IQ. Hence why Villanova hosted him for one of their games later in the regular season and others such as American, Cal, Central Florida, St. Joseph's and Virginia Tech maintain pursuit.

[player_tooltip player_id='2878470' first='Carter' last='Fisk'] | St. Frances/[program_tooltip program_id='2076999' first='Team' last='Melo']

Fisk was voted as the Baltimore Metro Player of the Year from the Baltimore Sun and the MIAA A Conference Player of the Year as he's become one of the most improved prospects in the region regardless of class. His decision to reclass to 2027 has opened up the floodgates as over a handful of programs have extended offers. Albany, Coastal Carolina, George Washington, Ole Miss, Penn State, UAB, Villanova and Virginia Tech are involved. Expect the programs on this list to ramp up as others join the party if Fisk puts together a productive spring/summer on the EYBL Circuit with Melo.
