Mid-Season Spotlight: Impressive W/F's

This midseason stretch across the DMV has been packed with breakout performances and steady progression from some of the area's best and fresh wings and forwards. These are some impressive wing and forward prospects I've been watching over the season that have shown they are poised for a big finish to their seasons and a potential rise to their stocks.    Cam has been a matchup problem all season because of his athleticism and physical tools. He is a true rim-run threat with great hands, and he finishes plays above the rim with ease. Brooks plays fearless in the paint and goes right into contact. When he's locked in on attacking, he sheds defenders and gets to the basket quickly. Cameron's energy and explosiveness continue to impress this season as he continues this strong senior campaign with Great Mills.     Mali has put together a strong season for St. Albans as he's been one of their most dependable forwards so far. He's wrecking the backboards nightly and controls the inside with his presence and awareness on both ends. What's made him even more valuable is his ability to step out and produce on the perimeter within the offense. Will can knock down the jumper and spaces the floor when needed. He sets good screens, makes the right play, and stays efficient without forcing offense. Mali is the type of player you can plug into any lineup and trust him to produce.     Harrison has quietly been one of the most skilled forwards in the area this season. His game really pops because of the handle and scoring versatility. Rebounds the ball well on both ends and plays with a strong feel for the game and flow. EJ can score from anywhere on the floor and he gets to his spots comfortably. His handle keeps defenses honest and his height lets him shoot over defenders with ease. Whether it's off the dribble or spotting up, Harrison is a real offensive threat. His season has shown major growth, and his performance level is trending up.     Deji has been a force for PGCA all season, and he's been one of the best paint presences I've watched this year. He owns the glass on both ends and gives his team extra possessions consistently. His physicality stands out, and he finishes strong under the rim. Deji seeks out contact and plays through it well, whether shielding off the defense with his fierce drives to the rim or finding space under the rim to catch and finish. He plays the game with an edge that lifts his team, especially when momentum needs to shift. Oladeji's stock has been rising due to his level of play, and been consistent and he positively impacts the team every night.     Brandon has been one of the most complete forwards in the DMV this season, and he impacts the game in multiple areas. He's a true playmaker and versatile scorer that can get a basket from anywhere on the floor. Rebounds and facilitates well enough to be a triple double threat each and every game for Flowers. Brandon plays with an unwavering confidence that propels him to keep performing at a high level each night. He's at his best when he can back down defenders and create plays from the post. He also has the skill to face up and attack when the defense plays him straight up. Brandon uses his unique size and skillset well and is only getting a better feel for the game as his experience increases. His all around game is why his season has been so impressive.     Kyle has been a steady starter this season for GP since joining the team. He does a multitude of things that translate to winning basketball. He defends at a high level and I have seen him quite literally lock down the opposing team's best scoring option. Kyle causes turnovers and competes with real discipline on that end of the floor. Offensively, he plays the game the right way and can be trusted to make the correct play with the ball. He gets out in transition and looks to finish possessions strong in the paint. He's a decent shooter right now, with room to grow into a more consistent threat with the ball as a playmaker. His physicality in the paint and defensive value make him a major piece that has helped keep Georgetown rolling this season.     Carlos has shown strong improvement throughout the season, and he's becoming a more consistent scorer each time out. He's tough inside and uses his strength and base to power through defenders. Carlos can score in the paint, but he's also capable of stepping out and knocking down shots along the perimeter. He's been more efficient off the dribble lately, which has helped his overall impact. Defensively, he provides solid help and stands his ground underneath the rim. Ferguson's stock is rising because the production is becoming more reliable, and his physical presence matters on both ends.
