Expert Analysis
William Lloyd III | Prep Hoops Scout
Mali has put together a strong season for St. Albans as he’s been one of their most dependable forwards so far. He’s wrecking the backboards nightly and controls the inside with his presence and awareness on both ends. What’s made him even more valuable is his ability to step out and produce on the perimeter within the offense. Will can knock down the jumper and spaces the floor when needed. He sets good screens, makes the right play, and stays efficient without forcing offense. Mali is the type of player you can plug into any lineup and trust him to produce.

-Mali continues to climb in our rankings as he’s made substantial improvements to his conditioning and post game. Mali is running the floor effectively, finding spaces to both pick n pop or serve as a roll target, and timing dives to the rim well to crash the glass. I trust his range out to 18′ but want to see if he can extend that range out to the three point line to increase his value at the next level.

-Has made a ton of improvements to his body to improve his conditioning/endurance and move better on the perimeter as a help defender that can show and recover. Shooting motion has quickened and is more consistently smooth with the way it comes off his hands. Rebounds the ball well because of the work he does as the shot is in the air, usually can wrangle in rebounds in traffic because of his ambidexterity. Safe bet to improve at a consistent rate at the college level because of his work ethic and coachability.

-Really loved the development in his offensive skillset as a forward that can score in a variety of ways while allowing the game to come to him. Mali hit a baseline J off the face-up, showed nice touch on several outbacks around the basket, knocked down C+S 18-footers, and hit a top of the key C+S 3 to give his team for good. Mali also does a great job of seeing the floor both from the low post and at the top of the key, delivering a flurry of passes that kept the defense moving throughout the game. The body has improved quite a bit and he has grown to at least 6’6, love how much more fluidly he’s moving on the floor after improving his conditioning.

is a little more of a big right now, but I think it would serve him well to be a wing. William does a lot of great things in the paint as a rebounder and scorer. He has nice touch around the rim and uses his body well to get position. William has a high IQ and has a fantastic motor. William is a good mid-range shooter, but if he can expand his range to beyond the arc, then he can jump up these rankings.

-Mali is an undersized 3/4 tweener that just plays the game the right way, using a pretty strong frame to carve out space around the basket for rebounds and score with a fluid hook shot with either hand. He anticipates where the ball is coming off the rim and makes pretty decisive reads to score or kick out to teammates. He’s also capable of knocking down open 18-footers with a consistent shooting stroke. Believe he’ll step into a bigger role on a talented St. Albans team looking to make some noise in the IAC
