MoCo Coach’s All Star Game: Standouts

There was a nice mix of explosive scoring guards, wings and forwards with strong motors, and good coaching throughout the evening as the prospects showcased their skillset in front of a crowd of supports and college coaches. He knocked down a face-up three in transition, threw down an alley-oop finish in transition with 2 hands, and threw several crisp overhead crosscourt passes to the shooters across the floor. Payne stepped into a transition 3, froze his matchup with a euro in transition into the inside hand lay, hit his matchup with a right left cross into a long 3 off the bounce, and pushed the pace in transition. Wright started things off with a 1-handed alley oop finish in transition, scored well off of step-throughs and pivots around the rim, and played through contact/double teams well to score or draw FTs throughout the game. His motor and determination to power past or hit his opponent with spin moves to get to his spots in the halfcourt led to easy buckets that he converted on with regularity. Wright has his pick from several local jucos and a few D2s that have begun recruiting the dynamic W/F tweener.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["2148722"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-69c59ffb79b31"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">-Saw more of what Martin could do on the ball as a playmaker in this showcase and he did not disappoint the crowd in attendance. <br>Martin did a great job of distributing the ball to his shooters and generating paint touches, came up with some tough catches in traffic in transition and finished through some tough angles around the rim, and showed the skill level with a bump and pound dribble at the elbow straight into the pull-up jumper that splashed through nothing but net. Even in a showcase environment, he was an aggressive POA defender that took on whoever the hot scorer was on the opposing team. He is effective defensively both on and off the ball as an instinctual prospect that reads the flow of the offense and his matchups eyes well to come up with deflections and steals that lead to high percentage looks. Chukwurah also knocked down a corner 3, served as an effective passer from the wings, and was active on the glass throughout the game. Mitchell started his day off with a blocked shot off his back foot in transition, set up lock n chase possessions well on BLOB plays to stay tethered to his matchup off of pindowns and double screens, and raced the ball well in transition for his team. A 20+ PPG scorer with his HS team, Mitchell got into his jumper smoothly off the bounce from all 3 levels and used screens well to dart into the paint before he scored at the rim. A smooth operator in side ball screen situations, Ouattara's ability to accelerate and get downhill made him really difficult to stay in front of without fouling. I also came away impressed with his ability to finish through contact whether it was over a guard or an opposing wing/forward at the rim as he closed the game out well down the stretch with key FTs and buckets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
