At the core of our job is evaluating high school prospects and disseminating that information to college coaches at all levels. That requires a lot of in-depth research, film study, boots on the ground viewing, and a good deal of travel. In order to cover the entire state to the best of our ability we have to hit the road and get to games that aren't necessarily close to home. Weather got in the way of our trip up to The Region a couple of weeks ago, but we are hoping to get that rescheduled soon. Here are some of the prospects we are most wanting to see on that trip.

This 6'2" guard wasted no time making his presence felt at the varsity level this season. Clay Jr. is a talented shot-maker and all-around playmaker for Gary West Side High School. The Cougars have now won five straight and remain a very dangerous team in the Class 3A North. Clay Jr., even as a freshman, is a big reason why they should not be slept on come tournament time.

Crews remains one of the most intriguing prospects on the board in the Class of 2026. The unsigned senior is a legit 6'9"-6'10" with impressive length and athleticism. He projects as a lob threat, rim-runner, and rim protector defensively. His improvement has remained consistent throughout his college career and is absolutely worth a scholarship for various levels. We attended a practice before the year at Gary West Side but are anxious to see him in live action.

One of the top unsigned senior big men in the state, Dobre is having a solid season after transferring from Marquette Catholic to Michigan City. The 9-5 Wolves have already beaten the likes of South Bend Adams and South Bend Riley this season. They play 13-0 Portage next Friday. Hopefully we will be able to be in attendance. Dobre averages 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

We know that [player_tooltip player_id='2560407' first='Quen'tavious' last='Fly'] is one of the most gifted athletes and scorers in Indiana's Class of 2028. Where exactly he stacks up overall is something we admittedly still need to figure out. That will require a trip to Gary to watch Fly and Bowman Academy in person. The 6'4" sophomore guard averages 23.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 4.6 steals per game.

An unsigned senior guard, Jackson made the move to the Class 4A level at Michigan City after putting up big numbers at Class 1A Westville. He leads a balanced scoring attack with 11.0 points per game. Jackson is at his best attacking the basket off of the dribble and utilizing his athleticism to finish around the rim.

The younger Kobe brother is having a great season for the Portage Indians as well. He was a contributor as a freshman, but has really broke out as a sophomore averaging 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.1 steals for 13-0 Portage. Already ranked #40 in the Class of 2028, we are anxious to see if he is deserving of moving up even further.

Kobe is quietly having an absolutely excellent season individually while also leading Portage to a perfect 13-0 record. The athletic 6'1" guard averages 22.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. He is set to be a major stock-riser in our upcoming update of the Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 rankings.

East Chicago Central has three freshmen that play big roles, but it is this 6'1" guard who has been the best of the bunch statistically so far. Meux is an athletic, playmaking guard who averages 9.9 points per game which is good for third on the team. We are anxious to see how Meux, along with ECC's other freshmen, stack up among some of the best Class of 2029 prospects in the state.
