An under-the-radar guard to keep an eye on this weekend at the Top 100 is Karter Kobe Karter Kobe 6'1" | PG/SG Portage | 2027 State IN of Portage High School. He is super athletic guard out of the backcourt with good length to his frame. He can really be a microwave scorer at times and when he has his rhythm going, he’s just tough to contain with the energy he plays with. Small colleges should love what he can bring to a team.

This talented junior guard has played his way into Indiana Junior All-Star contention by averaging over 20 points per game for one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the state. Kobe, a 6’1″ junior guard, came on strong in the second half finishing with 19 points to help lead Portage to a 67-56 victory over Michigan City. The Indians are now 16-0 on the season.

Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground at Michigan City High School on Friday night when Portage puts their 15-0 record to the test. However, we have to mention Karter Kobe Karter Kobe 6'1" | PG/SG Portage | 2027 State IN ‘s 34-point performance in a 96-71 win over Griffith on Tuesday night. He continues to have an outstanding junior season.

Kobe is quietly having an absolutely excellent season individually while also leading Portage to a perfect 13-0 record. The athletic 6’1″ guard averages 22.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. He is set to be a major stock-riser in our upcoming update of the Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 rankings.

It has been an excellent start to the season for this junior guard. Kobe went off on Tuesday night scoring 29 points to lead all scorers in the Indians’ 62-58 win over Bishop Noll. The 6’1″ guard is averaging 24.7 points per game as Portage is off to a 3-0 start.

Kobe’s athleticism and ability to create his own shot really stood out to us at “The Expo” on Saturday. The 6’1″ guard looks poised to take over a larger role this season in the Portage High School backcourt that graduated a lot of production. His ability to consistently get to the basket and finish with either hand at the end of his drives was very impressive. It will be interesting to follow his development moving forward. Kobe was able to carve out a role in a very deep and talented Portage High School rotation as a sophomore. Now, with five seniors graduating, he should be ready to step into a larger role for the Indians. The 6’1″ guard is a skilled perimeter threat that puts pressure on opposing defenses in a variety of ways. We look forward to having him at The Expo on September 20th.

Kobe parlayed a strong month of June with Portage High School into a great finish to the summer in July with Darius Garland Elite 16u on the New Balance P32 Circuit. The 6’1″ guard is capable of playing both on or off of the ball. He is a good enough creator off of the bounce to attract the attention of multiple defenders when running the point, but is also a good enough shooter that he is hard to help off of when he doesn’t have the ball. That makes Kobe hard to handle offensively. He is an improving, under-the-radar prospect in the Class of 2027.
