Kobe had a monster junior season for Portage High School that really helped to solidify him as one of the top guards in Indiana’s Class of 2028. The smooth, left-handed playmaker can score it from all areas of the floor and showcases good passing ability as well. He is a top prospect to watch for Darius Garland Elite P32 this weekend.

It was a bit of a slow start for the younger Kobe brother, but he came up big down the stretch as Michigan City made their run and helped secure Portage’s 67-56 win. The 6’2″ left-handed sophomore guard hit some tough pull-up jump shots off of the dribble and showcased some athleticism as a finisher at the rim. He had 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Indians as they moved to 16-0 on the season.

The younger Kobe brother is having a great season for the Portage Indians as well. He was a contributor as a freshman, but has really broke out as a sophomore averaging 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.1 steals for 13-0 Portage. Already ranked #40 in the Class of 2028, we are anxious to see if he is deserving of moving up even further.

Kobe is such a fluid, smooth athlete. He operates really well with the ball in his hands showcasing the ability to serve as a primary playmaker. However, he also can space the floor as a shooter and is explosive when attacking from the catch. The 6’1″ guard got his feet wet at the varsity level as a freshman at Portage High School and is more than ready to step into a larger role this season. He is now ranked #40 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2028 Prospect Rankings.

Portage High School was pretty stacked with veteran talent last season, but Kobe carved out a varsity role right away averaging 5.5 points per game. The athletic, left-handed guard played exceptionally well at our Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday and looks to be poised for a breakout season in what should be a much larger role. He has the ability to score it from any spot on the floor while also showing off legitimate playmaking traits.

Smooth operating lefty that plays at his own pace. Offensively he doesn’t get sped up. He’s aggressive to score but is unselfish and a willing passer with the skill set to play on or off the ball. Runs the pick and roll under control. Really good shooter that is always on balance. If the defense goes under, he confidently shoots behind the screen. He attacks off the screen hard and gets in the lane where he has a nice pull up jumper or can get all the way to the basket.

Another Kobe is coming up through the system at Portage High school. The 6’1″ point guard is a talented playmaker and immediately caught our attention as one to watch in the Class of 2028 when he attended our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase last fall. Since then he has averaged 5.5 points per game as a freshman at Portage and had a great summer on the New Balance P32 Circuit with Darius Garland Elite 15u. He is a highly skilled left-handed playmaker that can score it from all over the floor and consistently gets paint touches off of the bounce. Kobe will be one to break into our rankings within the next expansion or two.

Incoming Sophomore showed some good strides against a tough squad in early afternoon Saturday matchup. Had some agility shot faking making defender rise then finishing in traffic. Made another dribble drive action from the wing to convert again. The lefty guard can be utilized in the 1 – 3 spots. Will turn some heads next 3 years.
