There were quite a few underclassmen that outperformed their rankings while playing this past weekend at the [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Shootout. With the 2027 and 2028 rankings updates in January they have helium at the right time!

[player_tooltip player_id='2632058' first='Karon' last='Shavers'] (Leo – 2027)

Shavers is significantly under ranked from what we saw on Saturday. The combo guard has good strength and can really shoot it from deep. Poured in six triples in their victory en route to 29 points. More than just a shooter he was consistently pressing the issue and getting to the charity stripe.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323606' first='Asa' last='Harris'] (Leo – 2027)

Harris was in set up mode in this game as he dished out 12 assists in the victory. Savvy guard that is shifty with the ball in his hands, made great decisions with the rock, and was pesky on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125688' first='Tray' last='Alford'] (Yorkville Christian – 2027)

Alford is a two guard that is having a strong junior campaign. He has burst blowing by his opponent for scores in the paint. Coast to coast takes and he is a plus shooter knocking in several threes. He had 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323617' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] (St. Laurence - 2027)

One of the most unique players in the state. He is so productive at the high school level, but doesn't look the part with his thick frame as a non shooting wing. He just stuff done though! Can play bully ball when he needs to, has excellent handles, loves the spin move on drives, and finishes so well around the hoop. Very good passer that almost operates as their point guard when needed. Tenacious rebounder and solid defender. The only comp I can come up with his O'Fallon 2011 grad Roosevelt Jones. We will continue to track him as he continues to post for St. Laurence including 23 points vs Payton.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125658' first='Kendall' last='Meyers'] (Marist – 2027)

Meyers had a larger role with Brown out for their game on Sunday. Meyers is a skilled four man that had one of his better games getting on the glass on both ends, scoring int transition, spins out of the mid-post area, hitting 15 foot jumpers, and stretching hitting one three. Rebounds in traffic and is a skilled passer. He had 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323620' first='Ed' last='Stasys'] (Benet – 2027)

Stasys is already ranked in the top ten so that might tell you where this is trending as he outperformed his #9 ranking. Strong and athletic four man that is an absolute monster as a rebounder. He snatches them in traffic over and over again. Threw down some intimidating dunks in the contest including out of the dunker spot, rim running, sealing, and can handle it. Excellent defender who can guard two through fives at the high school level. Went for 14 points!

[player_tooltip player_id='2417805' first='Blake' last='Wells'] (Yorkville Christian - 2027)

Wells was a key in the win against Lemont. He played well off Riley spotting up from the corners and knocking down threes as he hit three of them en route to 10 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436293' first='Cole' last='Christian'] (Lane Tech – 2028)

Continue to like where the game of Christian is trending! He had 16 points and close to double digit boards against St. Rita. Floor spacing post who drained a pair from the top of the key along with rebounding well in his area. Like how he impacted on the defensive end getting steals and several blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877491' first='Marshaun' last='Thornton'] (Mt. Carmel – 2028)

Thornton will not ever play a minute of college hoops as he is a truly special national wide receiver. He was super impactful in their win against Glenbard East. With his size, strength, and athleticism on the defensive end he held Nee to well below his average. Was a force defensively following him all over the floor, getting in his grill, and using his length to alter shots. Offensively he is a big time slasher and transition athlete who had 14 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918205' first='Keiwon' last='Gulley'] (Bloom – 2029) Gulley continues to show he is one of the top freshman guards in the state. Came out aggressive getting his first start of the year and was assertive from the jump. Got to the rack for finishes, banged in three triples, and had a nice runner game. Like the confidence he played with for a young guard on a big stage notching 23 points.
