Gregg was dominant in North Oldham's opening round victory as he was physically overpowering most of Grayson County on the glass, finishing with 13 rebounds to go along with a team-high 24 points. I loved the actions North Oldham used to get Gregg the basketball on the wing, having him run off pin down screens and clearing out the court for him to operate in the high post. Gregg is an impressive shooter off movement and his skillset is a perfect fit for a North Oldham team that has a great blend of ball movement, size and physicality.

The growth in Rondo's game from last year to this year is incredible as he's now one of the more productive guards in the greater Louisville area despite still being in 8th grade. Rondo gets to the rim at will and uses advanced pace for his age to change directions and speed off the dribble. I also loved how Rondo was fearless in attacking the rim off the dribble and he hit some acrobatic layups through much taller rim protectors on Thursday.

Missing one of their top scorers, Logsdon has an even greater responsibility for Grayson County this weekend at the King of the Bluegrass tournament. I was impressed by the perimeter shot-making by Logsdon off the dribble, knocking down a tough mid-range pull-up before the first quarter buzzer. Physically dominant in the paint, Logsdon isn't rushed when he catches the ball underneath the rim and scored or was fouled when he got within 3 feet of the rim. Last time I saw Grayson County Logsdon was coming off an injury and it's safe to say he's fully recovered and displayed an even quicker first step on Thursday than he showed in the summer. A top player from western Kentucky, no surprise the Hilltoppers were thrilled with an early commitment from Logsdon this summer.

Making his case for Mr Basketball, Feldhaus has been dominant at both ends of the court to start his senior season. One of the best athletes in Kentucky, Feldhaus was living above the rim in this one. In the first quarter Feldhaus made a tough catch on an outlet pass that quickly resulted in a slam dunk. Madison Central is playing with ultimate confidence as a team right now and that shows with how crisp the ball moves from end to end in transition and side to side in the half-court. Feldhaus had an alley-oop layup finish and knocked down a top of key 3-pointer off nice offensive sets. I also liked that Feldhaus created his own offense on putback layups with multiple gritty buckets off misses. Feldhaus looks like a prospect who has a chance to play heavy minutes right away at Belmont.

The leading scorer in a battle of top teams in Kentucky, Lindsay was once again a standout performer in a key St Xavier win. Maybe the most athletic guard in Kentucky, Lindsay is also knocking down 3-point shots off the catch at a high percentage. Lindsay also had a nasty pull-up 3-pointer from the top of the key and had a crazy alley-oop layup through traffic. Louisville St Xavier continues to impress and could be viewed as a favorite to win the King of the Bluegrass tournament.

Byrd had his coming out party in front of a large crowd at Fairdale high school on Thursday night. Showing everything that makes him intriguing, Byrd had a monster poster dunk on a St Xavier defender and had a putback dunk waived off due to basket interference as well. As a shooter Byrd knocked down a corner 3-pointer and a couple mid-range shots where he rose up above shorter defenders. Not many players combine Byrd's vertical athleticism, shot making and ball skills at his height and age. Still needs to impact the game at this level consistently but the performance he had on Thursday night shows why I think he's one of the most talented 2027 prospects in all of Kentucky.

The host Louisville Fairdale got a big time victory to wrap up the opening night of action as they had six players score eight points or more in the victory. Butler was an athletic mismatch in the paint, making some impressive finishes at the rim by using his length and explosiveness. Butler rolled hard to the rim off screens, ran the floor and had a nice spin move that led to an easy finish at the rim. Combine that impact with a game-high 11 rebounds and Butler was an easy choice for top performer from the hosts.
