If you're serious about staying ahead this season, now is the time. Prep Hoops is 50% OFF with code BlackFriday2025, and this deal won't last. Half price for full access. While you lock that in, let's break down the Top 7 Centennial League underclassmen that should be on your radar.

Cruz is the top underclassman to keep an eye on in the conference, and it's simply because all that will be asked for him to do in his Freshman season. We have seen so much of him this Fall that it feels like he's been around for a few years. Cruz is a true PG, and we don't have many of them across the state. He handles pressure, reads double teams, and despite having to carry the scoring load, makes the right passes and puts teammates in plush offensive situations. Not many players in the state will get as much attention from opposing teams as Cruz will have, but he handles it with poise and stays involved. I think he will have the best numbers for any freshman across the state, and he's a Top-3 in his class for a reason. He gives you a reason to watch Smoky Hill.

Proctor is a PG that plays at his own pace, controls tempo, and does what he wants on the floor. We get to see him in a new light with Overland this season, and they will look for him to be the constant. He'll be one of the primary ballhandlers on the team and who runs the offense. We've seen some incredible highs for Proctor, which elevates his ceilings, and now we want to make sure he's consistent there. Proctor is a true PG who scores in bunches, is creative with the ball in his hands, and keeps defenses guessing. He should have a green light to make decisions for the Trailblazers, and his tenacity should be a better fit for Overland. I expect him to make a jump and be a player who turns more heads this year. Expecting him to play with a chip this season, excited to see which Proctor we get.

Shortis is a player that we were skeptical about putting on the list. If he's able to play this season, he easily becomes one of the top underclassmen in the conference as he will be able to make a mark the moment that he's on the court. He is a balanced and under-the-radar prospect whose impact goes beyond the box score. He's strong, uses his strength to his advantage, and does whatever the team needs. He's an excellent rebounder who keeps plays alive, runs the floor for finishes or to open up the floor, and is a versatile defender who you can put on a guard or big to slow them down. Shortis will be a valuable piece for Cherokee Trail moving forward and is a player to keep on your radar as we personally believe he's better than given credit for.

Barry is a freshman with a highly anticipated season as we're excited to see just how much he can step in and help over there. We expect him to be able to get varsity minutes this season as he plays with the power at the rim, run the floor with purpose, and also steps up as an offensive go-to as well. It all stands out. Barry crashes the glass, protects the paint, and brings energy every possession. As his perimeter and mid-range game grows, his two-way ceiling becomes scary. The upside is real, and now we want to see it on varsity. He's a player we're very excited to watch.

Robinson is a player that we've watched a few times this summer, and we know that he's a piece that Cherry Creek will need to be good if they want to make a deep push. He's going to be a catalyst for Creek this year as they need some steadiness, and he provides that. At times, he becomes a scoring option as he's an aggressive defender that plays hard on that end of the floor, and that effort turns into offense for him on breaks, steals and coast-to-coast finishes. He has also developed as a shooter and has a reliable outside shot, which makes the defense second-guess on how to defend him. He will have to step it up even more on both ends of the floor as he steps into the season with a bigger role. He will be their defensive specialist and a player that keeps offense afloat, and I expect them to use him as a Swiss-Army-Knife option that does it all. Versatility is his calling and makes him one of the more intriguing underclassmen in the conference.

We saw a bit of David this summer but as of late, we've seen him in what should be his role for Eaglecrest. As a difference-maker that they allow to make plays happen. He's one of their core pieces with his ability to space the floor with his outside shot, he uses his athleticism to get to his spots for mid-range pullups and get all the way to the rim where he can score as well. Robinson's blend of size and skill make him an intriguing prospect who should be able to produce a ton this season. He finds holes in the defense and slashes, grabs boards, and goes right back up and bottles his man defensively. We want to see the game slow down for him this year, and in a free-flowing offense where he gets more touches, he will have the opportunity to. Big year ahead for him.

Ayon is a young prospect who knows what's expected of him and plays to his strength. That goes a long way for a team as he provides offensive relief. He can play primary ball handler or get to his spots and let it fly. Ayon is a knockdown shooter who does not need much space to get going. He can create for himself or teammates and plays within the flow of the offense. Ayon will have the chance to be a microwave scorer for CT this season, and I expect him to step up. Ayon is easily one of the top underclass prospects in the class, and we're ready to see how he performs in Year 2.
