This weekend I attended the inaugural AZ Hoops JAMboree presented by Marcel Reece at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. There were two brackets of 16 each with 32 total teams. I watched 24 teams and here was my rundown of the event.

5th Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2574815' first='Garrison' last='Bambolo'] Willow Canyon

A bigger wing forward who keeps growing. He has good skill who shoots the three, he will get downhill and score with contact and has a nice floater game. He also uses his size and length to rebound and block shots. The West Valley team is quietly forming a "big-3" with Hayes, Carter and Bambolo.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291967' first='Kyle' last='Bogart'] Highland

The big post player missed the two summer live periods but is back healthy ready to anchor the teams defense. He is a high level rebounder with two hands and will score with lob dunks and quick post moves. He is also a sneaky good passer and runs the floor well.

[player_tooltip player_id='3005954' first='Brady' last='Ernst'] Mesa Mountain View

A southpaw is the grandson of the legendary coach Gary Ernst. He definitely plays from the neck up. He is an extremely quick undersized fast point guard who can shoot it from mid to the three. He uses ball fakes and quick bursts combined with skill to score.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386978' first='Jaydon' last='Hayes'] Willow Canyon

Part of the big-3 at Willow is Hayes. He is strong, skilled and tough. He showed advanced passing skills this weekend showing he is a true combo guard. He will score with threes and he has a sweet fall away from mid-range that is very difficult to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194481' first='Justin' last='Kimbrough'] Mountain Pointe

An undersized scoring point guard with a fast and shifty yo-yo handle. He is quick on the ball to collect steals as a tough defender to bother his opponents. Offensively he has an almost automatic mid-range jumper and he can burst to the rim and kiss it high off the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2295693' first='Maddox' last='Lazor'] Basha

A strong framed post player is a load to handle on the glass. He scores it mostly with offensive rebound put backs and he is a quick second and third jumper to control the glass. He walls up to alter or block shots and he is one of the better passing big men in the AIA.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693801' first='Dane' last='Montague'] Perry

The biggest player in the AIA happens to only be a sophomore. He will set a massive pick and roll to the basket to score. He has soft hands to catch some tough passes and will score with put backs. He is also getting better at sealing his man and scoring with his back to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='3005784' first='Tyler' last='Mortensen'] Mesa Mountain View (Pictured)

A newcomer for me is a transfer from Flagstaff. He is an inside and out power forward. He has a soft touch around the basket and he can face-up from elbow and in. He rebounds and block shots with next level timing to swat it away. He looks to be the future of the program.

[player_tooltip player_id='2559538' first='Notorious' last='Street'] San Tan Charter

A two-way defensive point guard who is improving his scoring. The lefty shoots the three off the catch at a better clip and will get to the basket with his tight handle and a burst of speed. He is a tough on-ball defender and rebounds the ball well for a guard. He comes into the game and wrecks the opposing guards rhythm and pace.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552772' first='Tre' last='Terry'] Hamilton

A combo lead guard can seamlessly play on or off the ball. He is a tough on-ball defender and a shot maker. He can hit shots from mid to the three point line and get to the basket with a quicker burst. His bounce has come in and he is in line for a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2297437' first='Dylan' last='Vargas'] San Tan Charter

An athletic power forward who will throw it down with powerful dunks. He will score it with quick spin moves into a layup or gets fouled. He is starting to face-up to the perimeter and his energy he brings to the court, with his size, will help them make a deep run.
