The CBG JUCO/Prep Showdown took place in Henrico last week, as one of the few events on the east coast that permit division one schools to attend and evaluate players. While we've already done plenty on standouts, here's a look at seven juniors who impressed college coaches and increased their stock with their play.

Gregory has been on the radar of college coaches for a while now, and with coaches watching him at the Showdown he impressed with his continued improvement on both ends of the floor. While he's always had good touch, he showed significant improvement in his consistency as he drilled it at a high clip without needing much space either. He communicated well as the anchor of the defense and challenged shots well, he finished well with both hands in the paint, he made good passes to cutters and shooters, and he rebounded well in traffic too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2898054' first='Jayden' last='Detrick'] | 6'3” WG | Woodside 2027

Detrick is coming off of a great summer where he showed he would be playing a much bigger role on this Woodside team this year, and he followed it up with an impressive showing in front of college coaches as well. The 6'3” off guard has a bit of a throwback style to his game, as he's a bit of an unorthodox bucket getter, but a bucket getter nonetheless and he filled it up in bunches and efficiently. He showed great footwork and the ability to create space in the midrange on his pull-ups and step backs, he drilled shots from deep consistently, he got out in transition and finished around the rim, and he always seemed to be open with his off ball movement and getting clean looks from all three levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='2640022' first='Colby' last='Murphy'] | 6'6” WF | Bethel 2027

Murphy is part of a talented new group at Bethel, and he put on a show with his blend of strength, skill and athleticism that allows him to impact the game across the board. At 6'6” with a very strong frame he got downhill aggressively and didn't shy away from contact, instead often initiating it and bullying his way to the rim where he finished at and above the rim in traffic consistently. He showed his ability to spot up and knock down open shots, he was dynamic in transition running the floor and bringing energy with his rim rockers, he showed his ability to create for himself and others off the bounce, and he was very good as a rebounder as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588134' first='Zyon' last='McGlone'] | 6'0” PG | Peninsula Catholic 2027

McGlone continues to show why he's one of the top guards in the 757, and he wowed coaches with some crazy athletic plays that other people simply can't make. He showed that athleticism by getting downhill and having some crazy acrobatic finishes with great hang time, and he even had a play where he missed a free throw then crashed the miss and dunked the ball on put-back! He was a nightmare to keep in front with his burst and shiftiness off the bounce, he was putting constant pressure on the defense by getting into the teeth of them and making plays, and he was clamping up ball handlers and picking pockets as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2470581' first='Antonio' last='Mack'] | 6'2” WG | North Cross 2027

Mack is a name that coaches will start to get familiar with after this past event, as he's been one of the top players in the Roanoke area and is a legit division one prospect with his elite athleticism and budding skillset that continues to improve. While he's only 6'2” he has a ridiculously long wingspan and is an explosive athlete which allows him to play above the rim and play much bigger than his physical height would lead you to believe. He made plays on both ends around the rim as he finished well and was a good rim protector for his position, he showed the ability to create off the bounce and knock down shots from multiple levels off the catch, he rebounded well and showed he can push and make plays in transition, and he showed huge upside on the defensive end too.

Bodi Corley | 6'7” PF | James River 2027

Corley is a new name that emerged at the event, as the James River big man dominated in the paint with authority using his strength and athleticism to own the paint and put up big numbers. He showed no hesitation when he caught the ball around the rim, as he looked to dunk everything and had one game where he finished with 18 points and had 6 dunks in the game. He dominated on the glass using his length and athleticism to pursue the basketball, he was physical guarding in the paint and showed the willingness to make drivers pay when they got downhill, and he showed good touch and seems like he's just now starting to scratch the surface with how good he can be.

Won Evans | 6'3” CG | CBG Elite (Varina) 2027

Evans mad a name for himself with CBG Elite, and with Varina's star from last year Brian Mitchell transferring to Paul VI he will be in a position to take on a much bigger role moving forward. The 6'3” combo is a player that will be recruited moving forward due to his high IQ and great understanding of the game, as he can play within multiple roles and has good positional size to go along with it. He shot the ball well from deep and showed the ability to score it in bunches when he gets it going, he made excellent reads and delivered passes on point, he consistently makes the easy play and creates opportunities for others, and he's a high motor and savvy defender who can lock up the other team's top scorer and playmaker.
