Rankings coverage continues for the Class of 2028 with a look at the Combo Guards!

The top overall spot at the Shooting Guard position is held by Portsmouth's [player_tooltip player_id='2594613' first='Derek' last='Swartz'] (#2). The 6'4" made an immediate impact last winter in the NHIAA and followed that up this summer by making a name for himself at the national level. The big guard is a versatile prospect that really knows how to score the basketball, rebounds it at a high rate, and takes pride in guarding on the other end of the floor.

Magloire, a guard out of St. John's Prep in Massachusetts, checks in at #28 overall and #5 among the shooting guards. Magloire is an uber efficient scorer, capable of getting buckets at multiple levels and proving to be hard to guard when he gets downhill off the bounce. He gets to his spots with limited dribbles, moves well without the basketball, and has the strength needed to finish around the rim against larger opponents. Defensively, he has the ability to defend multiple positions and is incredibly active on the glass, showing the ability to operate as a grab-and-go rebounder that triggers the break.

Buckley, a guard out of Thayer Academy in Massachusetts, checks in at #36 overall and #8 among the shooting guards. Buckley is capable of scoring any time he touches the basketball. He's an elite perimeter shooter, both in catch and shoot situations and on the move, while also impressing with his burst as a driver and vertical athleticism. Offensively, he has proven over and over again that he can go get a basket late in the clock, particularly in isolation situations. Defensively, he has good positional size and plays with an chip on his shoulder on that end of the floor.

Trimboli, a guard out of the King School in Connecticut, checks in at #54 overall and #10 among the shooting guards. Trimboli is a high scoring guard that burst onto the scene in his first year in the NEPSAC last winter. Now pushing 6'1", he has good size for the guard spot and is capable of playing on or off the ball in the half-court. He has some wiggle off the bounce, plays with a quick first step as a driver, and does a nice job of mixing up his finishes at the rim and in the mid-range. On the other end of the floor, he can guard either back-court spot, makes the hustle plays the don't show up in the box score, and has the ability to keep opponents out of the paint.

Parris, a guard out of the South Kent School in Connecticut, checks in at #75 overall and #15 among the shooting guards. Parris is a big guard with plus length that can really make plays with the basketball in his hands. He does a great job of reading the defense out of ball screens and DHO actions, showing the ability to turn the corner and get all the way to the rim. He's got a deep scoring package and, with his length, is capable of finishing over size in the paint. Defensively, he makes plays in passing lanes that lead to easy run outs and can impact games on the defensive glass.

Nunes, a guard out of Austin Prep in Massachusetts, checks in at #134 overall and #25 among the shooting guards. Nunes is one of the better outside shooters in this class, showing the ability to put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways from behind the arc. He's got a quick trigger, repeatable stroke, and works to get open by being in constant movement. He's learned how to leverage his shooting and now is attacking closeouts and getting into the paint off the bounce. Defensively, he can guard both back-court spots, sits in a stance and competes, and does a nice job of making opponents pick up their dribble outside of scoring spots.
