Now that the summer grassroots season is officially in the rearview mirror it is time to start looking into the future a bit. A big part of that is welcoming the incoming Class of 2029 to our coverage here at Prep Hoops Indiana. There have been a handful of names mentioned from high school coverage in the month of June and some summer grassroots events in July, but for the most part these are new names to our website. With the annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase just over a month away on September 7th let's begin to highlight some of the top incoming prospects in the Class of 2029.

Register for the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase: https://events.prephoops.com/e/1558/register/indiana-freshman-showcase

Breland is undoubtedly one of the incoming freshman that we have seen the most of by nature of him playing up at the 15u level with Progeny on the UAA Circuit. The athletic 6'1" guard has the physical tools to step in right away and play varsity minutes for a Fishers team that will once again compete for a Class 4A State Championship. He is absolutely one of the top Class of 2029 prospects in the class.

This last name should ring a bell. The younger brother of an Indiana Mr. Basketball award winner, this 5'9" guard stepped into some major variety minutes for Penn during the month of June. Similar to his older brother at this age, Burton is smaller than some of his peers, but he is completely fearless. Burton is a high-level playmaker that will have no issue impacting the game at the Class 4A level from day one.

In terms of long term prospectus, there might not have been a Class of 2029 prospect that showed us more than this 6'7" big man from Gary West Side. He immediately wowed us at the Charlie Hughes Showcase with his fluid end-to-end mobility, soft hands, and above the rim finishing ability. Look for him to be one of the top prospects in the class throughout his high school career.

The incoming freshman class at East Chicago Central has a good deal of talent. They had a few guys playing at the varsity level for them throughout the month of June. Gillis is one that really stood out both with the Cardinals and on the grassroots circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='2399422' first='Darius' last='Garland Elite']. The dynamic 5'10" point guard is an excellent playmaker that should make an instant impact in the backcourt this coming winter.

Hampton has so much versatility at his size and young age. The 6'5" forward from Evansville Bosse High School stepped in right away in June and played a big role for the Bulldogs. We had the chance to see his talent at the IU Team Camp and Charlie Hughes Showcase. It will be fun to continue watching his game develop in the coming years. He is definitely one of the top long-term prospects in Indiana's Class of 2029.

Mohler has been discussed for years in southern Indiana circles and now it is finally time for him to enter high school at Austin. Mohler has the physical and athletic traits with excellent positional size at 6'3" on the wing. He will have a chance to be one of the most statistically impactful freshman from day one. We are anxious to see him more at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase this fall and see how he stacks up against the best of the best from around the state.

Arguably no freshman enters the year with more hype and fanfare than this strong, physical, 6'3" wing. This is the second straight season that New Albany has boasted arguably the top freshman in the class that will make an instant impact at the varsity level. Stoudemire was a big part of [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 14u's run to the Jr. EYBL Championship game in North Augusta, South Carolina to finish out the grassroots season.

One of the most talented shot-makers in the incoming freshman class, Tonagel already put up some massive scoring numbers for Oak Hill High School at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June. He backed up that strong play on a national stage helping lead [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 14u to the Jr. EYBL Championship game.
