Rankings Release: 2027 Wings to Watch

Rankings week continues today with a look at some notable Wings from our latest update.   After checking in on the Guards earlier this week, today we turn our attention to prospects that make most of their impact on the perimeter, without the ball in their hands.   From prospects inside the Top 30 to ones sitting on the Watch List, here's a look at ten wings that appeared in our latest rankings update.    Batchelor, a high motor wing out of the Westminster School in Connecticut, continues to impress with his commitment to two-way basketball. He's a talented defender that uses his strong frame, athleticism, and mobility to his advantage when guarding a variety of positions on the floor. He communicates on that end and rebounds at a high rate both in space and around the rim. Offensively, he's hard to guard when he gets downhill and continues to show the ability to knock down perimeter jumpers in catch and shoot situations.     Edmonds, an athletic wing out of Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, is a multi-level scorer that can get a basket late in the shot clock. He has good positional size at 6'5", with long arms and a quick first step, and the ability to both handle and play off the ball. He's a tough shot maker in isolations, showing the ability to get to his spots off the bounce and rise above the defense to score. Defensively, he can defend any perimeter position and uses his length to his advantage in passing lanes.     Millward, a versatile wing out of the Rivers School in Massachusetts, burst onto the scene this winter with big scoring outing after big scoring outing. He's got a good frame, can play through contact off the bounce, and has nice athletic pop in space. He's a knockdown shooter in catch and shoot situations that continues to improve his game off the bounce. Defensively, he's a good rebounder that plays with a high motor and has the ability to guard anywhere from ones through fours with his combination of positional size, strength, and lateral mobility.     Udeh, a two-way wing out of Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, is a next level athlete that does a great job of making plays in space on both ends of the floor. He's a long and lean 6'4" that plays with good bounce around the rim, allowing him to be a crafty finisher in the paint. He has a quick first step off the bounce and excels when attacking the basket as a slasher. Defensively, he can guard multiple positions and does so at a high level, using his physical tools to his advantage to shut down opposing wings.     Denton, an athletic wing out of Masconomet Regional High School in Massachusetts, announced himself as one of the best wings in the MIAA this winter. He has a nice combination of skill, feel for the game, and physical tools. He's a good athlete that moves well laterally and has the ability to make plays in passing lanes and at the rim defensively. On the other end, he's capable of playing on or off the ball, makes good reads in ball screens, and is a microwave scorer that can really knock shots down from behind the arc.     Callahan, a skilled wing out of St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, is a new name to know in New England after transferring in from New York. He's a connector that can fill a variety of roles on the floor, particularly on the offensive end where he can operate as a primary initiator or off ball scorer. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, particularly out of ball screens, and continues to improve his consistency as a perimeter shooter. Defensively, his motor on the defensive glass stands out, as does his ability to defend all three perimeter positions.     Cotte, a talented wing out of Northwest Catholic High School in Connecticut, has the ability to change a game on the defensive end of the floor. At 6'5" with long arms and plus athleticism, he makes plays at the rim as a shot blocker and in passing lanes as a disruptor. He covers ground quickly in space and does a nice job of moving his feet on the perimeter. Offensively, he impresses with his ability to make quick decisions with the ball in his hands, particularly as a passer, while also showing the ability to finish with either hand around the rim.     Demeter, a playmaking wing out of the Brimmer & May School in Massachusetts, is a high motor prospect that plays with great energy on both ends of the floor. He has a versatile offensive skillset, showing the ability to score at multiple levels, handle in space, and make quick decisions as a passer. Defensively, he is as competitive as they get, showing a willingness to guard any postion on the floor, while also mixing it up on the glass and for loose balls. He's the consumate team player that does the little things that lead to wins.     Huff, a two-way wing out of Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, has done a nice job of developing his skillset and shows some good playmaking instincts. A creator with the ball in his hands, he does a nice job of playing at different speeds and utilizing changes of directions to keep defenders off balance. He knows how to play off two feet and does a nice job of limiting his turnovers. He can knock down shots in catch and shoot situations and makes good reads out of ball screens. On the other end, he knows how to play angles and does a good job in rotations.     Ross, a talented wing out of Kents Hill School in Maine, is a gifted shot maker that has the ability to create space off the bounce. The Massachusetts native had a strong winter season this year, showing off his shot creation skills, as well as his ability to make decisions with the ball in his hands. He has some wiggle as a handler, uses stepbacks to his advantage in the mid-range, and can really shoot the ball from behind the arc. Defensively, he has nice length and moves well in space, allowing him to guard ball-handlers and wing scorers alike.
