Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Ross had a heck of a night for Team Sims’ HGAL squad. The 6-foot-5 forward is still skinny and relatively underdeveloped physically, but he has good length and can really shoot the basketball. He hit shots from the perimeter all night and showcased a beautiful release; because of his size and the quickness with which he can shoot, he’s a phenomenal floor spacer. Ross also showed off a nice Dirk fadeaway in the mid range and impressed me with his passing ability. He’ll be transferring to Suffield Academy for his senior season and projects to be a really solid piece at the D3 level, especially if he can get stronger and improve his ability to drive closeouts.

A threat to make shots from beyond the three point line. If his his feet are set there is a high chance he is able to connect. Ross shows some flashes of scoring off the dribble. Shows some wiggle off the bounce in the half-court. Ross uses his length to get rebounds. He shows some flashes of connecting with others for scoring chances of their own. I would like to see him get stronger and work his quicker.

Ross is a high potential player who has good size and length, and his skillset is starting to really come together as of late—the junior has put up a couple 25+ point performances recently, and his shot looks better than ever. At his size and age, it’s impressive how he’s able to set his feet and get his shot off from all over the floor. He has a beautiful-looking stroke and understands what a good look is vs. when he should swing it to a teammate. Ross’ size also allows him to get boards and defend multiple positions. As he continues to grow and get stronger, he should develop into a nice college prospect.

Ross, a wing out of the Kents Hill School, checks in at #164 overall and #36 among the small forwards. Ross is a crafty, multi-level scorer that has long arms and good positional size. He knows how to get to the rim in transition, as well as off the bounce in the half-court, and impresses with his instincts as an off-ball cutter. He’s a capable perimeter shooter that does a nice job of spacing the floor in catch and shoot situations. He’s really come along as a finisher in the paint, showing a nice combination of athleticism and touch. Defensively, he can guard up and down a position and is a grab-and-go rebounder that can start the break in transition.

Ross, a talented wing out of Kents Hill School in Maine, is a gifted shot maker that has the ability to create space off the bounce. The Massachusetts native had a strong winter season this year, showing off his shot creation skills, as well as his ability to make decisions with the ball in his hands. He has some wiggle as a handler, uses stepbacks to his advantage in the mid-range, and can really shoot the ball from behind the arc. Defensively, he has nice length and moves well in space, allowing him to guard ball-handlers and wing scorers alike.
