Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Neal continues to improve every time I watch him and has had a phenomenal season for Lynnfield. The 6-foot-4 lefty has gotten more comfortable handling the ball and is quite difficult to stop at the rim with his combination of size, athleticism and length. He has a knack for finishing and he’s relentless in his attacks to the hoop. His outside shot has improved this season, too, and he’s an excellent rebounder and hustle player. Neal might not have enough help around him at Lynnfield to make a run, but perhaps some role players can make some shots and compliment what he brings offensively.

Neal, out of Lynnfield High School in Massachusetts, checks in at #32 among the shooting guards and #162 overall. Neal has picked up where he left off this summer, showing the ability to operate as a primary decision maker with the ball in his hands, while making plays with length around the rim and consistently knocking down shots from behind the arc. He’s a jumbo guard that does a nice job of playing at his own speed, has the ability to keep defenders off balance with his dribble, and does a nice job of using his size to see over the defense as a facilitator.

Neal, a junior guard out of Lynnfield High School, can fill it up from the outside and should take a leap this winter in his overall production. He has terrific positional size, does a nice job of moving without the basketball in his hands, and uses his length to finish around the rim. He has a quick release on his jumper, can get it off against almost any defender, and does a nice job of getting his shots within the flow of the offense. On the other end, he does a nice job of crashing the defensive glass.

Neal looks bigger and stronger every time I watch him play. The 6-foot-4 wing has grown a ton in the last year and is really starting to come into his own as an athlete. Most importantly, the Lynnfield High School senior plays HARD; he goes after every loose ball, runs the floor consistently in transition, and makes multiple efforts on the defensive end. And, though his shot looks a little bit odd, he makes it enough to make the defense defend him on the perimeter, which opens up his southpaw driving ability. Neal should be looked at by local prep schools as a D3 prospect who does all the right things and will seamlessly fit into any system. He should be a star for Lynnfield this season.

Neal has the looks of a late blooming D3 wing. The 6-foot-4 lefty has grown a lot over the past year and is quickly becoming an effective athlete on the court. He has excellent cutting instincts and does a good job finding his way to the ball; he had a variety of garbage-man plays and always seemed to get to loose balls before his opponents. His shot is a bit wonky, and the lefty will definitely have to figure that out if he wants to play high level D3 hoops, but he has a lot of time to do so. Neal is only entering his junior year at Lynnfield High School, and he hasn’t reclassified yet.
