Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Millward had an excellent weekend for Rivers and looks like he’ll lead the charge for them this year. He’s stronger, more athletic, and tougher than he was a year ago—I see him making more hustle plays, rebounding the ball better, and never running out of energy—but he also has a super well-rounded skillset. He makes shots from three (and shot the ball extremely well this weekend) but he also consistently makes the right decision in the paint when the help comes. He has great discernment in terms of being aggressive vs. getting his teammates involved, and his motor really shined this weekend. Millward should be looked at by the highest level D3 programs, but I even think some scholarship schools will check him out.

Millward exudes high level D3 basketball. He’s 6-foot-4 and long (so he appears bigger than that), but he has guard skills and can do lots of different things on the floor. He’s an impressive movement shooter and was super efficient from long-range this past weekend, but he can also drive closeouts effectively and take contact at the hoop when opponents overplay his shot. His size and strength allows him to guard a wide variety of players, and he has a good compete level at all times. Millward probably has his sights set on scholarship hoops (who doesn’t?), but he seems like a perfect fit for the high D3 level.

Millward is an intriguing prospect because of his combination of size and skill. The 6-foot-4 wing has the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, but he can also attack closeouts and hit shots from the mid range or get all the way to the cup for finishes. He won’t necessarily wow you with above-the-rim athleticism, but he’s crafty with his footwork and has decent strength. He also showcased some really solid playmaking ability, which could definitely be expanded on over the next couple of years.

Millward, a wing out of the Rivers School, continues to stand out with his ability to make tough shots from the perimeter. He looks bigger than he did this summer and shows the ability to play through contact as a driver and to operate as a traffic rebounder on the defensive end of the floor. Offensively, his bread-and-butter continues to be his ability to create space as an off-ball mover and then to be shot ready on the catch. He has deep range on his jumper and with a high release point, the ability to get it off against almost any defender.

Millward, a versatile wing out of the Rivers School in Massachusetts, burst onto the scene this winter with big scoring outing after big scoring outing. He’s got a good frame, can play through contact off the bounce, and has nice athletic pop in space. He’s a knockdown shooter in catch and shoot situations that continues to improve his game off the bounce. Defensively, he’s a good rebounder that plays with a high motor and has the ability to guard anywhere from ones through fours with his combination of positional size, strength, and lateral mobility.
