hasn’t been with the team, Denton has arguably been Masco’s best player. The 6-foot-5 forward can shoot the ball well from three (and he hit an awesome momentum-changing three to end the third quarter against Hanover), and his size allows him to get his shot off against defenders of all sizes. What impressed me most, though, was Denton’s aggressiveness when driving to the hole—he looks more comfortable taking contact than I’ve seen him before and is clearly getting stronger and tougher. His performance defensively and on the boards confirms the same thing.

Denton, a junior wing out of Masconomet Regional High School, is primed to break out as one of the state’s top wings this winter. At 6’5″, he has great positional size, the strength needed to play through contact, and can finish plays above the rim with his athleticism. He can really knock down shots from behind the arc, showing deep range on his jumper, and has developed his ability to attack bad closeouts off the bounce. He’s a versatile defender that is active in passing lanes and willing to mix it up as a traffic rebounder.

Denton is another player who’s gotten significantly better since the last high school season. The 6-foot-5 wing is going to be one of the better shooters in the MIAA, and he pairs his touch with the size and skillset necessary to put up some pretty elite offensive numbers. Masco is going to have a host of talented players who can light it up, but I would be surprised if Denton isn’t a key cog there. He can do everything offensively and is only going to continue getting stronger and more comfortable in his body. Big time player.

Denton was one of the most impressive players of the entire night because of his combination of size and perimeter skills. The 6-foot-5 wing/forward uses his physicality and length to guard bigs and get rebounds, but the way he pulls out his defender on offense is what makes him most special. The Masconomet junior is an amazing shooter; he gets it off quickly, he has great range, and it goes in quite often. His size and shooting ability alone will earn him tons of college looks, but he also has an off the dribble game that is growing as we speak. I could see him blooming late and getting scholarship offers.

Denton, an athletic wing out of Masconomet Regional High School in Massachusetts, announced himself as one of the best wings in the MIAA this winter. He has a nice combination of skill, feel for the game, and physical tools. He’s a good athlete that moves well laterally and has the ability to make plays in passing lanes and at the rim defensively. On the other end, he’s capable of playing on or off the ball, makes good reads in ball screens, and is a microwave scorer that can really knock shots down from behind the arc.

Denton was playing up in the varsity division against some really tough competition and looked supremely comfortable and confident. The 6-foot-5 wing strokes it from three but can also attack closeouts and finish with really good touch around the rim. I was so impressed with his composure and big shot making against a really tough Crown HGSL team. Super skilled player with tons of potential moving forward, especially if he continues to grow and get stronger. I could also see him reclassifying and transferring schools, which would give him another year to grow and get stronger. Bright future ahead.
