There is no better event on the calendar from an evaluation or recruiting standpoint than the annual IBCA/IHSAA Charlie Hughes Showcase. This weekend, which is a live evaluation period for Division I college coaches, most of the best teams in the state of Indiana will descend on Carmel and Westfield High Schools for an absolutely excellent three days of basketball. Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer. However, before the event even starts, we will be rolling out content all week long to preview this outstanding event. Let's dive on in and take a look at five 2028 prospects ready to breakout this weekend.

When it comes to the 2028 prospects, there are of course many of them that could breakout during Charlie Hughes. One of the more sneaky ones could be Noblesville wing [player_tooltip player_id='2539932' first='Barrett' last='Rucker']. He has been a little under-the-radar running with a very good [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] team on the Prep Hoops Circuit but we have gotten good eyes on him and know that he can step out beyond the arc as a shooter, impact the game with his size inside, and has shown the ball skill to compete as a driver and creator.

If there is a player that will certainly catch a coach's eye this weekend that player could easily be 2028 Anderson wing [player_tooltip player_id='2538870' first='Don' last='Bowling III']. At 6'4, Bowling has been a player that really intrigues us at Prep Hoops Indiana with his versatility, length and athleticism. Bowling got some valuable minutes on the varsity this season and averaged 9.2 points and nearly 4.0 rebounds per game as a true freshman.

The next player that seems to be the guy to cary New Palestine to new heights seems to be 2028 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2560420' first='Will' last='Davison'], who seems to be the next breakout star for the Dragons. He had one of the more stronger freshman seasons in his class last year being a consistent catch-and-shoot threat but coming into Charlie Hughes, you should see his role increase greatly. People that have a chance to watch him this weekend will be impressed with his size at 6'3 on the wing and ability to flat out score the rock.

Hamilton Southeastern is a team to watch this season as they bring back a lot of talented guys but perhaps their most talented and the one with the most upside is 2028 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2559521' first='Varschon' last='Clark']. Clark, listed at 6'3, is a very dynamic player with athleticism and added strength to compete on both ends of the floor. He has been one of the more impressive 2028 prospects that we have had a chance to watch and his upside is limitless with just how explosive around the rim he is. He will make a few plays that will impress those that watch him this weekend.

When it comes to versatile forwards in the 2028 class, incoming Beech Grove sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2617860' first='Bishop' last='Moore'] is near the top of that list. As a true freshman, Moore was one of the more productive players in his class with 11.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He is a multi-sport athlete and one of the top football prospects in the state but brings so much production on the floor for Beech Grove. A dude that can just hoop.
