Silikpoh: Play by Play Consistent

[player_tooltip player_id='2524650' first='Kwatamah' last='Silikpoh'] of Park Center, a junior, had to be the most consistent play by play competitor I saw yesterday. Between the ball pressure and the activity in the passing lanes "Kwat" was a defensive disruption. I've always watched Silikpoh and thought McKinley Wright minus a few inches because of the way Kwat competes, the speed he plays at, the level of consistency, and one other thing, how he rebounds from his position.

Silikpoh grabbed five of the boards in the East Ridge win, dished out five assists, and went at the rim for most of his 21 points. He scored on 10 of 12 attempts and led PC to some nice wins on Sunday.

Kobbe bbuckets

The first thing I saw walking into the gym on Sunday was [player_tooltip player_id='2575642' first='Kobbe' last='Willis'] scoring on a put-back just before the half. About two hours later I saw the Benilde-St. Margaret's guard scored 20 points with 11 boards leading BSM to a win over Delano.

The number one thing I will take away from Willis scoring was the way he was able to get past the first defender and then scored over the second level defender consistently. He has the length to extend finish, Willis had no issues with the positioned help, and Kobbe consistently finished a good percentage of shots despite being the opposing focus. And we have seen Willis hit threes in good numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874800' first='Brayden' last='Gorton'] Develops

The 6'7/6'8 frontcourt players plays better every time I see him. Gorton scored eight times against the vaunted Tartan defense first scoring at the cup off a face-up move and then a lefty touch of the window. Then Gorton showed his range with a three and a long jumper. Later he scored with a fall away out of the post as Tartan didn't have the length to defend Brayden. And later when Tartan was more fearful of what Gorton could do, he scored actively. At his size and as a lefty, Gorton definitely has solid college potential.

Quick Hitters

[player_tooltip player_id='2574749' first='Gideon' last='Horne'] for Hope Academy has to be one of the most explosive players in his class. Some of the finishes and the boards that he put together were eye opening and when you can do what Horne was doing physically, you are a rare planet level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560826' first='Joel' last='Saah'] was the quick attacking Park Center player that East Ridge also couldn't stop off the bounce. Joe's quickness to the paint allowed him to make every shot that was attempted as defenses are not in good help spots in summer high school team hoops and Joel beat the defense to the finish every time.

[player_tooltip player_id='2175451' first='Graham' last='Sanneh'] of East Ridge may have played the best basketball I have seen him play over two games. He confidently took and made shots inside and out, his rebound numbers were solid, he contested defensively and was in good position, and overall the 6'9 stretch big has taken some nice steps.

[player_tooltip player_id='2124212' first='Jaylen' last='Goergen'] of Tartan was a part of a balanced Tartan win but I thought his secondary ball handling, his ball movement, his length on defense against wings, and his scoring later in possessions really helped the Tartans. Jaylen has good length and skill as a two guard and Washburn didn't have enough guards to limit KJ Wilson, Goergen and the whole crew.
