We updated our 2028 rankings yesterday, adding in 26 new names from schools across Maryland and Washington DC for a total of 100 prospects in the sophomore class. We used feedback from conversations with HS and AAU coaches, from film, and from our scouts after being in the gym all season. That full list can be found here. Now let's break down a few of our favorite stockrisers from this most recent rankings update!

We already covered Clark a bit in our breakdown of the Top 10 (linked here), but his play has been impressive and our scouts love his upside. Clark is a mobile, athletic W/F tweener that can attack his man off the bounce, rebound the basketball in traffic, and hit open C+S looks from 15' and in. Clark plays with a scrappy moxie and is undeterred when matched up with more heralded/taller opponents throughout the HS or travel ball seasons. If he can continue to sharpen his ball-handling and perimeter shooting skills, we like his long term upside as a 3+D wing that can really fill up the box score.

-Williams' calling card is a trait that is demanded of the coaching staffs that he competes for in both HS and AAU: defense. The lengthy guard is a ferocious on-ball defender that has the quickness and defensive IQ to cut off his matchup's driving lanes to the basket and force up contested jumpers that rarely find their mark. Williams is also effective off the ball as a ball-hawk of a defender that sees man and ball very well, keeping his matchup within two strides while jumping passing lanes or swooping in to collect a steal from behind. Love his tenacity at the other end of the floor too as he is a pretty fearless slasher with the ball in his hands, getting to both the rim and FT line with ease.

-Brown seems to be hiding in plain sight his first season with OLGC and the Warriors as he carves out a role with both as a heady point guard that understands how to use changes in dribble cadence to break down his matchup. Brown has the ball on a string and has a nice scoring package from the top of the key and in, getting to his pull-up jumper or floater in the ease from either side of the key. Love the balance and consistent mechanics on his jumper--even in those pull-up situations-- as he usually stays on balance even when fading one direction or the other. Defensively he is able to navigate ball screens and usually makes the right choice to fight over or go under ball screens to frustrate his opponent.

-Williams has waited his turn as a transfer that had to sit out a year before starting a new chapter with Bullis. But the young wing took the opportunity to really work on his body while studying the game to make the most impact when cleared to play. Williams projects to be a high-level 3+D wing capable of guarding 1-3 while putting up a good fight against forwards. He does a great job of using his length and athleticism to rebound out of his area and he has impressed scouts with the ability to generate his own offense by hitting the offensive glass, cutting hard to the rim, or setting on-ball screens that free him up for easy lanes at the rim. If he can sharpen the handle to pull off efficient 2-dribble drives from outside the 3 point arc to the rim and work on the consistency of his shooting mechanics to become an above average shooter-- we love his upside as a prospect. The afore-mentioned rebounding, athleticism, and defensive upside should earn him minutes to prove the rest over time.

-Middleton has caught the eye of our scouts several times this offseason as a flashy floor general that has a ton of perimeter wiggle and floor vision. His advanced handle allows him to beat his matchup to his spots but also to smoothly bring the ball from the floor to his shooting pocket to either execute a pass or find his own offense on drives to the basket. His ability to break down his matchup off the bounce whether he is at the top of the key or coming off a ball screen should allow him to begin earning time in a crowded Spalding backcourt because of his ability to set the table for his teammates.
