Wisconsin Squad Manitowoc United Gold 17U Has Strong Closing Day

We caught Manitowoc United Gold for parts of their two wins on Sunday as they beat All-In Athletic 60-46 followed by a 70-45 victory against Play Hard Hoops. Ben Prochnow had a really nice showing. The combo guard consistently won off the bounce for scores in the paint on euro steps, and straight line takes. Crisp pull up game. Against Play Hard Hoops he had 10 points. Micah Kubsch is a plus shooter from three that can get really hot from distance. In their second game the guard did just that pouring in three from deep en route to 16 points. Strong bodied and athletic small forward Donovan Cowley is one to watch. Knows how to use his physicality, has skill as a wing, and is a capable shooter. Against PHH he dropped 13 points. Jaymen Ott caught our attention in the first contest with his play. Well built small forward that was active around the hoop, snatched rebounds, and finished well.

[program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] 15U Tops AyoDosElite in Highly Anticipated Clash

Court 3 at Romeoville Athletic Center had quite the buzz for a Sunday morning game as the [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] took on AyoDosElite in a 15U clash. Chicago Bulls star Ayo Dosunmu was on the bench helping coach against his former grassroots squad. The Fire had just too much winning 70-57. Richwoods point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531961' first='Amarion' last='Smith-Holley'] is an absolute star! Illinois' top floor general was phenomenal in this game as he did it all. Feathery mid-range pull up jumpers, euro steps, acrobatic finishes, and dimed up his teammates including in the pick/roll. Went for 17 points. Really liked the energy on both ends that [player_tooltip player_id='2542413' first='Alvin' last='Robinson'] brought. The Lincoln Park small forward is a rangy defender that is an active rebounder. He cuts off the ball, gets to the line, and is a force in transition going for 12 points. Libertyville wing [player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis'] is another two way wing that impacts defensively turning defense into offense. Crashes the offensive glass and plays with a high-motor even when he isn't the focus of the offense. He had 10 points. De La Salle power wing [player_tooltip player_id='2532031' first='Roosevelt' last='Thomas'] was effective as a slasher, pushing coast to coast, and flashed as a passer while scoring 7 points. Mt. Carmel wing [player_tooltip player_id='2877491' first='Marshaun' last='Thornton']'s future is on the gridiron, but he is a very good hooper too. Athletic two way wing that is a great glue guy. Rebounds, defends, and scores at the rim going for 8 points.

For AyoDosElite it was their guard trio again that shined. Whitney Young point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2834050' first='Jaivyn' last='Richardson'] has that “it” factor you can not teach. He changes gears tremendously well, is a plus shot maker, and has a sweet float game notching 14 points. Peoria High's [player_tooltip player_id='2834186' first='Nigel' last='Moore'] had another strong performance as the 2028 point guard poured in the threes along with playing off his defense for 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2531995' first='Eze' last='Nwagwu'] is a high IQ lead guard that is slick with the ball in his hands. He has a sweet floater, can get to his spots, and hit a three for 10 points.

Next up it was the Fire 16U who won over [program_tooltip program_id='2414566' first='Mike' last='Glennon Elite'] 81-71. The sharp shooting of their wings carried them in the victory. Mt. Carmel small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2440187' first='Adam' last='McBrearty'] is a plus shooter that rained them in off the catch for 16 points (four 3s). Fellow 2027 sharp shooter Normal U-High's [player_tooltip player_id='2532349' first='Owen' last='Kirby'] matched him with four of his own scoring 14 points. Their backcourt stepped up with most of their starters out. St. Laurence guard Reggie Stevens made a trio from deep as well as the athletic guard dropped 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2455378' first='Ed' last='Williams'] IV showed off his toughness as the smaller guard crashed the glass for second chances while notching 14 points.

St. Ignatius 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531962' first='Amir' last='Tucker'] was the star for [program_tooltip program_id='2414566' first='Mike' last='Glennon Elite']. The top 20 freshman has gotten considerably better and grown since we last saw him. The lead guard poured in crisp jumpers from both two and three throughout the game. Shot it with a ton of confidence while playing at his pace. Slithers through the defense for slick finishes at the cup where he finishes with acrobatics. Netted 22 points in the loss.

Cleveland, King, and Sam Pace [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] 17U over [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears']

That meant stars from Illinois, Indiana, and Arizona combined to carry them to a 83-66 victory against the [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears']. Top prospect regardless of class in Illinois Kenwood's [player_tooltip player_id='2125612' first='Devin' last='Cleveland'] had the jumper working in this one. Threes from all over the floor as he creates space to get it off. Also such an effortless driver with his easy acceleration as he had 18 points. Elijah King out of Indiana is a powerfully built two guard that leaves his imprint on a number of areas. Strong downhill driver that finishes extremely well through contact. Also showed he can knock down a spot up three as well going for 20 points. AZ Compass big man Precious Sam is a 6'10” five man with broad shoulders and big time strength. He got on the offensive glass, had a nice right handed hook shot, and threw down several big dunks as he had 12 points. Kenwood wing [player_tooltip player_id='2323622' first='Damari' last='Stephens'] was a key in this game as well with his ability to get to the line, change gears, and finish in the paint for 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2823657' first='Kemmeon' last='Hale'] of Murphysboro had an excellent performance against another legit big man. Wide bodied five that didn't back down. Played with physicality, snatched rebounds, and finish with touch around the hoop. Light on his feet for his size as he had 19 points. The other Bears post who closed out a big weekend was Pinckneyville 2027 four man [player_tooltip player_id='2383971' first='Tyler' last='McConnell']. Bouncy post crashed for second chance points, had a sweet right handed hook shot, and converted with athleticism in the paint for 18 points.

This was a fun game between Illinois based Powerhouse and Pride Roc out of Wisconsin. It was Pride Roc who got the 77-73 win. Really liked what we saw out of rangy wing Ameer Anderson for the Wisconsin team. Long and rangy frame who has a quick second jump, can deck it from the mid-post, and flashed a mid-range jumper for 15 points. Amaris Hunt had another good outing when we saw him as he did on Saturday. Long and rangy two guard that is an athletic slasher who also is a capable shooter as he hit a pair from deep along with scores in the paint for 18 points.

Carmel had a pair of prospects put their name on the map in this one. [player_tooltip player_id='2832909' first='Charlie' last='Wingate'] is a 6'1” two guard that has a feathery jumper from both two and three. Can create his shot off the bounce. More than just a shot maker he had several crafty takes for 17 points. Luke Seagroves is the son of the Caravans' head coach. Look for a big senior year from this 6'5” four man who has broad shoulders and long arms. He has touch from mid-range and can stretch to three with ease. Good passer that makes solid reads. He had 13 points. Also keep an eye out for Brother Rice 6'2” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2832910' first='Zach' last='Grabowski'] who is a great glue guy that gets to the line and is efficient with his touches as he had 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2632005' first='Levente' last='Tallos'] continued his strong weekend as the Lake Forest Academy wing had 19 points with his three point shooting and skilled overall game.

In that same game there were some impressive plays by elite football prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2323271' first='Gavin' last='Mueller']. The South Elgin post led M14 Gold as he was a bully around the hoop, threw down some big dunks, and even hit a three. Dropped 12 points in the loss.
