The semifinals took place yesterday and they didn't disappoint with great team and individual performances. East Lansing defeated Orchard Lake St. Mary's. Wayne Memorial followed up that game with an impressive victory against Flint Carman-Ainsworth. We're going to look at 8 standouts from the Division 1 semis.

Carlos Medlock should be on everyone's Mr. Basketball list when next season rolls around. He's just electric with the ball in his hands. Medlock can create and attack with his handles, always finding a look at the rim. He finished with a game high 29 points and and added 8 rebounds. Maybe the most impressive part of his game was the way he was able to score at a high volume, but still distribute the ball as well. Medlock finished the game with 6 assists.

Tory put his game on complete display yesterday. He was critical to Wayne Memorial's success yesterday. Tory is an elite athlete that gets off the ground in a hurry and finishes above the rim. He can rim run and attack with a ton of success. Tory finished the game with 14 points and 6 rebounds. He's seeing his stock rise a ton in the matter of 24 hours.

Torbert has officially announced himself as a frontrunner for next season's Mr. Basketball. He was that good and that impressive in the Final 4 win. Torbert finished with 19 points and 6 boards. It seemed like whenever his team needed a bucket, he was able to free himself and get a look. Torbert played incredibly efficient basketball, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from behind the arc and not turning the ball over a single time in 32 minutes of play.

Thomas really put the state on notice at the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID Camp. If you watched the game yesterday, you what we saw last fall. That's aa silky smooth athlete that makes smart plays and good decisions. Thomas finished the game with 12 points and 7 boards.

McKenney is just built different. His strength and physicality is even more impressive the closer you get. At a program like Michigan, that will turn into a huge asset. McKenney walks away from Michigan high school basketball as a legend. He scored 21 points and grabbed 7 boards in his final game.

Barnes finished the game with 11 points and 4 boards. But what stood out yesterday to me has been a constant with this talented team first leader. It was Barnes' defense. He was tough to beat 1-on-1 and he managed to pick up 4 steals in this game. Defense translates and it will be fun to watch him lock down in college.

Hamlin is a smooth athlete that proved that he;s more than willing to play with and through contact. He scored 8 of his 15 points from the free throw line. Hamlin also grabbed 8 rebounds in the game as well.

Thank you [player_tooltip player_id='2053470' first='Deuce' last='Weston'] for going on this run and making me look smarter than I truly am. I've been preaching about how good and how talented Weston is for a while now. He more than backed me up. He played an efficient game finishing with 11 points on 4-6 shooting from the field.
