Top new names from 2027 Rankings Update

Our 2027 rankings update saw 18 players get added to our list for the first time, expanding our list past 45 players. In this article we'll discuss the six highest ranked debuts we had.    One of the most improved players in the state from the summer, Perkins has taken huge strides with his confidence and production. More confident catching the ball in traffic, finishing and moving off the ball, Perkins entire game has gone to the next level. He plays on a Lutheran East team with a lot of size and depth which allows them to play Perkins in a couple different roles on the court. A name to watch in northeast Ohio, Perkins should continue to improve and make an impact.     One of the best on ball defenders in his class, Perkins is a pest on the defensive end of the court. Also playing with the shiftiness to blow by the primary defender on the ball, Perkins seems to be on a similar trajectory to his brother Tai who is a Division I commit. With state title aspirations, Westerville North will be relying upon with Sophomore class to play in big moments, we'll see if they are ready for the bright lights of playoff action and able to lead the Warriors further than they've gone before.     An interesting name out of the Dayton area, Keely has made his mark with a storied Centerville program this season averaging 10 PPG thus far. With the size and body type to attract Division I interest, Keely stands out for his age with his physical profile. I was also impressed with his versatility from the wing forward position, able to attack closeouts with either hand. I am curious how well Keely shoots the ball from 3-point range, definitely a skill to watch over the next few years with his game.     An intriguing long term prospect to watch, Miller has been sick and missed the last two games I added of Olentangy Orange, but he should be back on the court the next time I catch the Pioneers in person. With excellent size and length, Miller showed some intriguing flashes with Nova Village's 15 U group in the spring when I saw Miller and the rest of his team. Hoping to see Miller sometime this winter with Olentangy Orange, he could be a nice option to help protect the rim and rebound.     I just saw Aborowa this week and continue to be impressed with his frame and athleticism. A wing who can play above the rim and through contact, Aborowa makes some eye-popping athletic plays. Also capable of forcing turnovers and quickly scoring in transition, Aborowa pops on both ends. Still has a long way to go offensively with shooting the basketball and handling it in tight spaces, I'll be monitoring Aborowa's development in these areas over the next few years.     Already holding Division I football offers to Kentucky, Toledo and Miami (OH) it seems safe to say Johnson's future will most likely be on the gridiron. Those talents shouldn't take away from the hot start he's had on the hardwood for the unbeaten Hoban Knights. Johnson is an athletic wing who can space the floor and knock down shots off the catch. Another athlete who can thrive in transition as well, Johnson would be a really intriguing basketball prospect if he made basketball his main focus. Watch for Johnson to try and lead Hoban to state titles on the hardwood and gridiron the next few seasons.
