Scrimmage SZN: The Next Wave

2027s and 2028s are stepping up all over Oklahoma this November. Here's a handful that are gearing up for a big season at the varsity level.    As a freshman Lowe already was faster than most, with a controlled burst that often left defenders in the dust. Now as a sophomore, he's even faster and harder to keep out of the paint. Also is now more explosive vertically which makes him an even more dynamic finisher at the rim. With his extra gear, old school mid-range game, and microwave ability to catch fire from deep, Lowe will be one of the best scorers in Oklahoma. Regardless of class.     Handles and short area quickness are what immediately standouts for Wilborn. He plays with the ball on a string, thriving in transition and breaking full court pressure. Can also get defenders on skates in the halfcourt. Good shooter, with comfortable range that extends to a few steps from beyond the arc. Wilborn hits high school with a very skilled game and will be a key part of a new look Putnam City West squad.     Shooter! McDaniel is a textbook guard with a great fundamental base for a youngster. Has a huge rainbow arc on his jumper, with a soft splash at the rim. Plays smart on offense, didn't seem in a hurry or forces shots. Will make an instant impact this winter as one of the top shooters in the 918 area, with the upside to continue to emerge into a complete scoring threat.     Hamilton was impressive this past spring and summer as a sharpshooting flamethrower. That aspect to his game is still there, while also having improved as an overall attacker. Complete with some good finds as a passer, and playing with more confidence and strength as a finisher. Appears to be on his way to turn into a complete threat as a guard, while continuing to be a weapon form deep.     Intriguing athlete, with a massive wingspan, who is slowly but surely impacting the game more and more for a Dale squad that is deep on experience. Has some perimeter skills as a face up threat in the half court. But seems to really shine when his activity level is up and he's either crashing the glass or causing havoc on defense. Embracing and staring in his role will add an extra dimension to a Dale squad that is looking to extend their small town dynasty with a fourth straight Class 2A title.     Norman North has an interesting sophomore core and Cooper-Kelley has been arguably the standout of the group after a couple scrimmages watched. Heady guard, plays head up as a driver, complete with some wiggle to score himself at the rim or in the mid-range. Looks to be a knock-down shooter off the ball as well. Jack of all trades guard, who will help raise the floor for Norman North this year. While also tracking to grow into a floor general who will really shine as an upperclassman. Good example of excelling in a role early and getting better consistently with each viewing.     Impressive starting skill level for the western Oklahoma freshman. Smooth one-two dribble pull up moves in the mid-range and beyond the arc. Good movement shooter, who maintains fundamentals and gets into his shots quickly. Still coming into his own physically, but did get in transition and throw one down with authority. Promising entry for a youngster with basketball pedigree, and has obviously spent the time in the gym to be able to blaze his own path.
