Arizona Preps: 2027 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>October 26th I attended the 26th annual&nbsp;<strong>Arizona Preps Fall Showcase.</strong>&nbsp;Director<strong>&nbsp;</strong><em><strong>Anthony Ray</strong>&nbsp;</em>had high school and prep teams going at it playing two games each at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here are some Sophomore Standouts I viewed</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1950104' first='Jonathan' last='Mercado'] Chandler</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The maestro on this day was JT. He was diming his teammates in both games I viewed. He drives and kicks it perfectly into a teammates shooting pocket and finds cutters. He scores with sharp pull-ups from mid-range, as he gets good elevation, making it difficult to defend. He can also hit the deep three off the catch.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1548525' first='Caron' last='Perez'] Williams Field</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A confident scoring combo guard can create his own offense and score with catch threes with a super quick release and mid-range pull-ups. He takes pressure off of Diggs and Mpouli to make plays and score. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146175' first='LJ' last='Diamond'] Desert Vista</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A dynamic scoring lead guard has elite speed with the ball and is super fast using the euro step and can hit the three once he gets hot. He is also a great lob passer. Scoring is definitely in his DNA but he can become that real point guard. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2574815' first='Garrison' last='Bambolo'] Willow Canyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing can score with threes off the catch and inside thru contact. He rebounds well inside with his length and moves his feet laterally well. He made some tough catches in traffic from his teammates and brings some size and length to a dominant guard line up.   </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2282925' first='Jacob' last='Hunter'] Liberty</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard is a bucket. He can straight line drive with his dominant right hand, post up his opposing guards and get to his spots and rise up from mid-range or hit the three. He rebounds well in his area and shows a good feel for the game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146266' first='Douglas' last='Sweatt'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A fast on fast undersized point guard. He can jet past his defenders and touch the paint and then will either score or find a teammate. He puts pressure on the defense with his speed and will get to the free throw line. He has plus lateral quickness to keep his defenders in front of him on defense.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292818' first='O'mari' last='Gilbert'] Paradise valley&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long, athletic and fluid power forward. He gobbles up all balls in his area with his big wingspan He is a long strider to get to the basket and will finish off layups and tough baskets near the rim.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2407205' first='Jamir' last='Smith'] <strong>Chandler (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An athletic power forward is very good defender and can score. He will take a bump and score and-1's thru the contact. He will score with hook shots and will leap over a crowd to grab a tough in-traffic rebound that most can't get.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
