OHSAA Division VI Preseason Rankings 1-5

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The OHSAA season is about a month away so it's time to look into the top teams in the state for each Division and see who has state title aspirations. In this article I'll break down the top five teams in Division VI.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. Spencerville</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team almost shocked NW Ohio when they had Ottawa Glandorf on the ropes in the district final last season before eventually falling short in overtime. They return [player_tooltip player_id='2436834' first='Carder' last='Orr'] and both Will and [player_tooltip player_id='2436889' first='Owen' last='Sensabaugh']. After starting 4-3 in November and December last year, Spencerville also only lost once in the regular season from January and February and that was a tight loss to our second ranked team in Division VII, Delphos St John's. While the NW region is almost impossible to predict in Division VI, I'll put my faith in a Spencerville squad that returns three key pieces from last season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Berlin Hiland</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every year I feel like I have Berlin Hiland in the bottom of my top 10 and they always wind up in Dayton for the state final four so this season I'm giving them the respect they deserve and putting them at number two. They return [player_tooltip player_id='2385572' first='Nick' last='Wigton'] who should be a priority small college target and despite missing multiple key players due to injury last season, still managed to make the state title game. I think those injuries actually help them going into this season because their returners got more playing time and experience than if their seniors would've all stayed healthy. I'm putting Berlin Hiland in the number two spot and confident about them making another deep march run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Patrick Henry</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had high hopes for Patrick Henry last season as they appeared in my top five Division IV teams heading into last season. They couldn't ever find their footing and lost to a very talented Toledo Christian squad in the playoffs. I'm putting my belief in them again with a three headed monster of Reid and [player_tooltip player_id='1837240' first='Lincoln' last='Creager'], plus [player_tooltip player_id='1837251' first='Mack' last='Hieber']. This team won a district title in 2023 and I expect them to have a chance to make it back to regionals this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4. Bluffton</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another NW Ohio squad, [player_tooltip player_id='2436836' first='Blake' last='Sommers'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2436839' first='Marek' last='Donaldson'] have excellent chemistry together and should have Bluffton ready to compete this winter. After a successful season last year, this is the final ride together for this duo and I expect them to be near the top of the region.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5. Maumee Valley Country Day</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tough team to pinpoint because unlike most other teams on this list, Maumee Valley Country Day is relying on a 2027 trio to win. [player_tooltip player_id='2128752' first='Ty' last='Lewis'], [player_tooltip player_id='2125750' first='Keeran' last='Stokes'] and transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2126199' first='Jeybrehm' last='Price']. The TAAC has some talented teams once again this year and if I had to pick one team to win it this year, I'd lean to the Hawks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
