Maumee Valley Country Day has really stood out in early season scrimmages and they are 3-0 on the season with wins over a Toledo city league opponent, a conference rival and an out of state team. Stokes is one of the most productive high school guards in the 2027 class as his quickness and shot-making ability is really tough for schools in Division VI to stop. Expect Stokes to put up monster scoring, assist and steals numbers this winter.

I just love watching Stokes compete as he simply produces no matter who he plays for. Lightning fast and tough to keep in front, Stokes was incredibly productive in a battle of Division VI powerhouses where Maumee Valley Country Day won on a last-second layup over Andrew’s Osborne Academy. Stokes also turns defense into offense often and had a couple breakaway layups off steals. One of the top guards in northwest Ohio, expect Stokes to put up monster numbers in the TAAC this season.

Stokes may be a smaller guard, but he’s highly talented and brings a lot of energy to the floor. He has quick hands defensively and puts constant pressure on the ball handler. Offensively, he’s a creative finisher around the rim, finding ways to score against bigger defenders with craftiness and toughness. After a summer with Nova Village, I expect Stokes to take a big step forward this season, and this event is a great chance for him to show it.

Stokes is a quick ankle biting guard who effective getting paint touches on the attack. The electric guard was contacted by in state division two Malone. He is a constant pest on the defensive end and finds ways to get steals. Another year under his belt and past experiences at the varsity level should help his Maumee Valley squad be a team who can be a contender in their league this upcoming year.

A dominant 4-0 weekend for Nova Village 16 U and Stokes was providing value as a ball handler, floor spacer and tough on ball defender. When you combine those three qualities as a point guard, you will help your team win. Stokes pushed the pace, knocked down shots off the catch and played hard defensively. I enjoy when players keep the game simple while still leaving their mark on the game and that’s what Stokes did this weekend when I saw him.

One of the more productive 2027 guards in northwest Ohio, Stokes had some big time scoring efforts when I caught Maumee Valley Country Day this season. The lefty guard has a high arcing shot that rainbows into the net. I also liked Stokes pressure against opposing ball handlers, getting 1-2 pickpocket steals in both of the games I caught. We’ll see if this young Maumee Valley Country Day squad can grow up together as they’ve already won a district and have the potential to be a statewide powerhouse in Division VI by next season.

Stokes did everything he could to keep his team alive after they went down by 11 in the fourth quarter. After that point Stokes connected back-to-back 3-pointers after the defense went under ball screens and attacked the rim going hard with his right hand and not stopped on the ball to score at the rim. A quick guard, Stokes applied rim pressure off the dribble and plays tough on ball defense. Stokes had four steals and his pickpocket steal that led to a layup in the first quarter gave Maumee Valley their biggest lead of the game in the first quarter.

Stokes is a pesky 2-way guard who uses his quickness and his close proximity to the ground to be a menace on the defensive end causing havoc and forcing turnovers to his opponents. He does a good job getting paint touches. He showed promise as a facilitator finding his teammates frequently. He added 13 points and was able to show flashes from behind the arc. Stokes has a knack for making hustle plays and has a really active motor.

Stokes is someone that is just a ball of energy. He is ultra-quick and a problem on defense. Stokes has some of the quickest hands I have seen. If you are loose with the ball then he will steal it. He does a good job of taking calculated risks on when to try and take the ball from you. My favorite part about him is he plays his best when it is a big game. He is not scared of the moment or anyone.

Stokes is an energizer bunny. He is an elite defender due to his quickness and hands. He is so good at getting his hands on the ball and just being a pest. He is everywhere on the court on the defensive end. He gets a lot of points off of transition and quick first steps. He is like a fast-twitch muscle. He would be a guard I love to have on my team to put in the game and cause havoc. He can change the momentum of a game and completely disrupt the offense.
