Another year where the Hawks of Berlin Hiland ended up in the state championship game. Despite numerous injuries, they persevered and found a way to just keep winning. Wigton was a key piece last season and will likely be the lead guy as a senior for the Hawks. The senior hit some big shots last season but none bigger than a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to beat Lima Central Catholic in overtime at the state final four. With his size, shooting and passing ability, Wigton should be a valued small college recruit.

The hero for the Hawks, Wigton hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to break a deadlock in double overtime to send the Hawks back to the state title game. I was impressed with the dribble, pass and shoot ability of Wigton on the wing. Confident shooter with good size, played with patience and made smart decisions. With injuries piling up for Berlin Hiland, they’ve had to rely on some new names this season and Wigton has earned some valuable experience this year and projects to be the main guy as a senior. Another small college talent for a Berlin Hiland program that has been a staple of the Division IV state tournament.
