Despite battling foul trouble, Detweiler finished with a game-high 25 points and hit big time shot after big time shot. A point guard who plays with excellent pace and runs the offense for the Hawks, Detweiler is a flat out winner. Also capable of running off screens and knocking down shots off the catch, Detweiler is a tough cover as you have to always monitor where he is. Maybe the biggest shot of regulation was when Detweiler hit a transition 3-pointer after a loose ball fell into the Hawks lap. If Hiland has a chance to win the championship on Sunday, Detweiler will need to be fantastic once again.
The hero for the Hawks, Wigton hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to break a deadlock in double overtime to send the Hawks back to the state title game. I was impressed with the dribble, pass and shoot ability of Wigton on the wing. Confident shooter with good size, played with patience and made smart decisions. With injuries piling up for Berlin Hiland, they’ve had to rely on some new names this season and Wigton has earned some valuable experience this year and projects to be the main guy as a senior. Another small college talent for a Berlin Hiland program that has been a staple of the Division IV state tournament.
A strong guard who had a lot of success getting to the rim and finishing, Priddy made some big plays down the stretch to give his team a chance at the end. Also a good shot-maker from the outside, Priddy hit a handful of shots from the perimeter as well. Lima Central Catholic graduates some key players from this team but they have a nice 2026 core that Priddy is a key piece of. I’ll also be curious to watch him this summer on the grassroots circuit, his strength and scoring ability should translate in that setting.

The leader of Richmond Heights, Barber continues his unbeaten postseason streak for Richmond Heights. Doing it with Dorian Jones Dorian Jones 6’4″ | SG Richmond Heights | 2025 State #61 Nation OH fouled out for the final 5 minutes and change, Barber made key play after key play for a composed Richmond Heights squad that made shots and took care of the basketball. Barber had some huge drives and buckets including an and-1 layup where he did a nice job creating contact. Six assists to just three turnovers also showed that Barber was helping Richmond Heights get good shots and he played all 32 minutes of the contest. This was a true test for the Spartans and they passed as Russia gave them a variety of challenges.
I was impressed with the size and body strength of the Russia kids. For a small-town program, Russia kids are well built and played strong with the ball. York came off the bench and hit timely shots from the perimeter. With his size, shooting and physicality, York will have a nice role at the college level doing what he does now. Russia should hold their heads high and return enough of their core including York where they could make another deep run next season.
