When Ohio's 2025 class was finishing up their freshman season, I thought it was the best class I had seen since I started really following high school basketball across Ohio. While our current rankings only show a couple nationally ranked prospects left in our rankings with [player_tooltip player_id='1432018' first='Antione' last='West Jr'], [player_tooltip player_id='1432034' first='Damon' last='Friery'], [player_tooltip player_id='1432015' first='Dorian' last='Jones'] [player_tooltip player_id='1480851' first='Tyler' last='Kropp'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1432016' first='Rj' last='Greer'], there are a handful of nationally ranked prospects who began in Ohio's 2025 class and have since left the state for prep opportunities. Other notable prospects who left Ohio's 2025 class include Kruz McClure (DME Academy Wisconsin) Kam Sanders (Moved to Georgia) and Isaiah Campbell-Fitch (Moved to Florida)

Peterson was the most notable youth prospect to come through Ohio in over a decade. A consensus top 5 prospect in the country from the first rankings release on every major website, Peterson established himself as one of the top players in the country and one of the best to come through Ohio. I first caught Peterson at the NEO Spotlight COVID camp where many of the top 2022 and 2023 prospects were participating like Sean Jones and Devin Royal. Peterson stood out as one of the better players at the camp and immediately floored me with his skill level and maturity for his age. Peterson played two seasons at CVCA before leaving for Huntington Prep as a Junior. He will now spend his senior season at Prolific Prep in California.

Quaintance is one of the most naturally talented kids to come through Ohio that I've seen. Playing his middle school basketball at Hawken, it was unsure where he would attend school as a freshman. Quaintance never played OHSAA basketball as he left for a Prep School in Arizona as a freshman and never returned to the state. Quaintance then made a pretty shocking move to reclass into the class of 2024 and enroll at Arizona State at 17 years old and ineligible for the 2025 NBA Draft. Quaintance must spend at least two years in the college/overseas system before he enters his name for the draft if he can maintain his incredibly high stock.

Bundalo was a late bloomer compared to the rest of the kids spotlighted in this article as he showed flashes at Uniontown Green as a freshman and earned a spot in our initial 2025 rankings in the 8-12 range. After an impressive summer with Wildcat Select and a dominant performance at the Prep Hoops Expo, Bundalo's stock started to rise. It all happened in a hurry during the spring of 16 U where Bundalo went from an unknown nationally to holding numerous high major offers. After this blowup, Bundalo made the move to Western Reserve Academy where he played his Junior season still in Ohio but outside of the OHSAA. He is now teaming up with fellow 330 area code native Darryn Peterson at Prolific Prep where the duo will be put on a national stage.

You couldn't hear about Ohio class of 2025 prospects without hearing about Easter when these prospects were rising freshman. After lighting up the scoreboard at Toledo Emmanuel Christian for two seasons, Easter spent last year at La Lumiere and will spend this season at Link Academy. Easter remained a top prospect throughout his journey as a high school prospect and has numerous high major programs after him. Easter is another top 50 consensus prospect according to the national RSCI rankings. If these four players would've remained in Ohio, they would account for almost 10% of the top 50 prospects in the country. A remarkable class for Ohio when you consider some of the names that have left the state and there's still so much talent that's ready to compete this winter at the OHSAA level.
