With the scholastic live period over and the grassroots live period going on, we thought it would be a good time to look at some specific specialists in different areas. Here's a look at part one of some of the top shooters in the Central and Western parts of the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1546447' first='Ryan' last='Crotty'] | 6'5” WG | Miller School 2025

Crotty is one of the best shooters in the country as he broke the Virginia three-point record in his first season at Miller and is being recruited by a plethora of high major schools. The 6'5” wing has supreme confidence in his shooting ability as he's always looking for his next shot, he's constantly moving running off screens and getting dribble hand offs, he can size up defenders and let it fly and he has in the gym range with his shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259624' first='Chance' last='Mallory'] | 5'10” PG | STAB 2025

If there's a second best shooter in the state, it might go to cross town rival Mallory who was named the VISAA D1 Player of the Year and is also getting recruited by tons of high major programs as well. Mallory has even more range than Crotty as he can go to DEEP waters off the bounce and let it fly from over 30 feet, he knows how to drift or move off the ball to get open, he can create space using step backs and he knows how to attack closeouts when he gets it going.

[player_tooltip player_id='2242375' first='Shane' last='Crissman'] | 6'4” WG | Miller School 2025

Crissman joins a Miller team that shoots more threes than any other team in the state (unofficially but I guarantee it), and he'll fit right in with his ability to knock down shots at a high clip from deep. The 6'4” wing can come off of pin-downs and set his feet to let it fly, he understands spacing to get kick-outs from driving guards, he has great form with a quick release and shoots it at a very good clip from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='1494115' first='Cy' last='Hardy'] | 6'0” PG | Northside 2025

Hardy has been the VHSL Class 3 Player of the Year ihe last two seasons after leading Northside to back-to-back state championships, and he's one of the best scorers in the state with the ability to make shots form all over. He's able to rock defenders and create space with great footwork to get into his shot, he can move off the ball where he's deadly in catch-and-shoot, he gets to spots for his pull-up and he can use fakes and relocation dribbles to get open.

[player_tooltip player_id='1494113' first='Camryn' last='Pacheco'] | 6'3” CG | Spotswood 2025

Pacheco has been one of the top players in the Harrisonburg area over the last few years, and the two time All State selection can absolutely fill it up in different ways. He has deep range off the catch with the ability to make shots on the move, he gets to spots well in the midrange and can make tough fall aways and he gets to the line often where he converts at a high clip.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259634' first='Gavin' last='Cormany'] | 6'2” CG | Oak Hill Red 2025

Cormany was a standout at Radford before transferring to Oak Hill and reclassifying to the 2025 class where he's continuing to showcase his ability to fill it up from deep. He's very good at working in isolation and getting to step backs both from deep and in the midrange, he's deadly from deep off the catch when he has space and he has great range as well.
