The 2024 Phenom Summer Havoc was held in Bermuda Run, North Carolina this weekend giving the chance for some of the top Grassroots programs in the Carolinas to play in front of College Coaches for the final time this Summer. Several prospects from the Palmetto State took advantage of this opportunity including these five 2026s who stood out to me on Saturday. Check them out below:

[player_tooltip player_id='2356428' first='Alvarez' last='Smith'], a new name in the most recent Prep Hoops SC 2026 Rankings, leads off my next list of Standouts from the Phenom Summer Havoc. This was my first chance to see Smith this summer since he was sick during the Sizzlin' Summer Shootout in June. As usual, Alvarez's work rate and defensive versatility really impressed. His jump shot also looked very confident, which was a new improvement in his game. Smith was effective off the catch from the perimeter and on mid-range pull-ups, putting up 11 Points. He is capable of guarding 2-5 on the defensive end at this level and made some impact plays with 2 Blocks and 2 Steals in the Carolina Celtics' win over NC Invasion in the 17U Division.

Jace is the other Mauldin Maverick/Carolina Celtic who stepped up in their 4-0 weekend playing up a division in Bermuda Run. In the matchup with NC Invasion, Shaw did a good job of running the show for the Celtics from his Point Guard position, balancing facilitating and scoring well. He is a lefty that sees the floor well and has a good handle when pressured in the full-court or half-court. Jace is also a good shooter from behind the arc and can't be helped off when he is spotting up. He put up 7 Points and 5 Assists in the win.

Bush had a dominant performance for [program_tooltip program_id='2415221' first='Upward' last='Stars Upstate'], putting up a 14-Point 11-Rebound Double-Double in a comfortable win. He made good use of his size advantage in the paint, showing an ability to score with a hook shot over either shoulder. Will also has a confident jumper and can be a viable pick-and-pop option. He even showed some impressive footwork and a high-level passing IQ to make him a well-rounded weapon on the offensive end. He didn't take a step back on the defensive end, either. Bush has a big frame and will keep opposing bigs out of the paint and off the glass. To go with the Double-Double, Will blocked 2 shots and intimidated many more.

Johnston had a nice game in the backcourt with a lot of the ball in his hands for [program_tooltip program_id='2415221' first='Upward' last='Stars Upstate'] in their win over [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure']. He started the game hot with back-to-back transition buckets on the first two offensive possessions of the game. Abrams also had a very impressive spin move and-1 a few minutes later, which helped his team build an early lead. He had lots of success in the pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop, showing off his vision and ability to navigate traffic with the ball in his hands. Johnston is scrappy on the defensive end and tallied a steal, a block, and several contested rebounds.

Drayton has been putting up solid performances since returning to [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure'] this month, so I made it a priority to check him out in Bermuda Run. He was difficult for the opponent to match up with due to his size and skill on the offensive end, but he was also a weapon on the defensive end and was a much better option on the opposing big man. Cockfield did a lot of work around the post, but he can also handle the ball and has a good touch on his jumper. In the early morning matchup I watched on Saturday, Drayton put up 8 Points, 6 Rebounds, and 2 Blocks.

Staley had an impressive showing playing up with [program_tooltip program_id='2078753' first='Upward' last='Stars Columbia'] 17U in their matchup with Q6 All Stars. It was a tight but low-scoring game, and Talan contributed to the game-sealing play where he calmly broke the full court press and found an open man under the basket for an easy layup. He has good positional size and his length helps him disrupt the game on the defensive end of the floor. On the offensive end, Staley is a weapon on or off the ball with his playmaking abilities and his shooting efficiency. In the win on Saturday, he displayed a knack for seeing passing lanes as they developed, which helped him put his teammates in a position to be successful quite often.
