[player_tooltip player_id='2043203' first='ZyMiere' last='Dempsey'] took home the division's MVP award following a 22-point performance to lead the way and overcome a loaded rotation of players from the Rockets in the end. [player_tooltip player_id='1105003' first='Darnerian' last='Gibson'] led the Rockets with 18 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1280878' first='Antonio' last='McKoy'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1900239' first='Justin' last='Caldwell'] both finished with 17 points apiece. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[program_tooltip program_id='2078546' first='Team' last='Trezz'] used a nice blend of stifling defense and scoring runs to create enough distance in the final going to seal the victory in the 252. [player_tooltip player_id='1220128' first='Isaiah' last='Godley'] stepped up in a big way with 18 points as well as he continues to show his growth on the hardwood. He showed he could defend, handle the basketball and knock down shots all weekend long. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">17U Silver Champions: NC Intruders</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The NC Intruders took home the Silver Championship in the 17U division as they were led by a trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1165176' first='Marcel' last='Freeman'], [player_tooltip player_id='1212902' first='Justice' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1225664' first='Preston' last='Copeland'] all the way to the final. They edged out the Kinston Ballers 57-55 as Freeman paced the scoring attack with 26 points in the back-and-forth battle. Mitchell had 16 points behind Freeman's 20+ point outing. He was impressive as their squad faced a lot of adversity in getting the championship, even trailing 26-0 at one point to the Carolina Aces before coming all the way back winning 77-67. Mitchell finished with 27 points while Freeman scored 33 points in the comeback victory as well as he took home MVP honors following the title game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was an action-packed event this past weekend at the Rocky Mount Event Center!
