The newly committed football recruit to Winston Salem State University was the other guard I mentioned above. Bertie has had a down year in terms of team success compared to the last couple of years but Dempsey is having one of the best all around seasons in the state. Averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals per contest he is not a player I want to see in the playoffs.

One of the more underrated shooters and scorers in the 252 area, Dempsey remains overlooked at Bertie High in the Four Rivers Conference. The 6-foot-3 scoring guard is pouring in 27.6 points per game on 58 percent shooting from the floor and 32 percent from behind the arc while also posting 11.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He’s a prospect who’s shown he can fly around doing a little bit of everything to make his presence felt in more ways than one. He’s a prospect for DII/DIII programs to get on their radar as he looks to lead the Falcons on another run in the NCHSAA State Playoffs.

Dempsey was impressive for Team Trezz as he propelled them to the 17U Gold Championship with his ability to score in isolation and off the catch with relative ease. He showed he’s prime for a rankings bump as he heads into his senior year at Bertie High given his ability to score no matter who’s in front of him. He led the way for Trezz in their upset bid of the Carolina Rockets with his 22-point performance to close out the final. He’s an emerging DII/JUCO prospect for college programs to start tracking heading into the season.

Dempsey is another guard prospect in the class slowly moving up the radar as he moves from 198 to 117 in the latest update. He’s coming off an appearance in the NCHSAA 1A State Championship game and fresh off a 52-point performance in a third-round victory over Voyager. He shot 17-of-31 from the field and just 3-of-7 from 3-point land in the 82-58 victory. He also had 11 rebounds and five steals. He’s quite the off-the-ball threat who can get going in a hurry.

Dempsey is another mover in our rankings, rising 81 spots to 117th in our latest edition of the rankings. He’s been a force for 1A semifinalists Bertie all season, even putting up a 52 point performance in the 3rd round of the playoffs against Voyager Academy. A downhill combo guard with size and toughness, he knows how to attack the rim or get to the charity stripe and make his presence known offensively.

His 52 Point performance against Voyager not only helped his team to advance to the next round but it also caught the attention of college coaches. Over his last two games he is averaging over 40 Points and recently picked up a scholarship offer from Shaw University. You have to love the intensity that he plays with every time he steps on the floor and the confidence that he plays the game with me.

A crafty scorer that can fill up the scoring stat sheet in a hurry, he is one of those players that is very dangerous to play against during tournament time. He can score the ball from multiple levels, is an athletic player and plays the game with a confidence that you have to love.

is a 2025 name that hopped onto the PrepHoops NC radar this past season with Bertie High. He’s a 6-foot-2 guard that put up 9.8 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 3.5 APG and 2.7 SPG as a sophomore this past season while shooting 49 percent from the field and 35 percent from deep. He showed he could be an instant spark of offense off the bench this past grassroots cycle with the East Coast All-Stars. He’s got a smooth game and does well to work with ease off the bounce to make things happen when the ball comes his way. He’s a name due to grow in the 2025 rankings very soon when they update in September.
