The Ohio Buckets are always a team to watch at non live period events. Always a healthy amount of college coaches there to watch their 17 U teams and I thought Platfoot made a big impact in an early morning contest. A prospect who has grown a couple of inches since I last saw him almost a year ago, Platfoot’s game largely remained the same with how he impacted winning. A high motor player who is physical and rebounded the ball on both ends, Platfoot created second chance opportunities for his team. Platfoot also jumped a couple passing lanes which led to a breakaway dunk and a give and go layup. You see the explosiveness from Platfoot on the offensive end playing above the rim, but he also uses that pop defensively to block shots at the rim as well. A player who will be on a lot of scholarship radars this spring and summer, Platfoot is playing for a program that will allow him to be seen by the right coaches for his skillset.

TNBA -Ohio had some under the radar sleepers from northeast Ohio on their roster and perhaps none bigger than Lear. A lefty guard who made excellent decisions with the ball in his hands, Lear processes the game at a high level. The ball didn’t stick to him and he found the open man consistently. I wrote Lear down as a top performer for these extra passes and overall playing the game the right way. Then Lear caught fire from downtown and knocked down maybe five or six three’s in a game. He was hitting them off the catch and making the defense pay for going under ball screens. When you combine the feel Lear showed me with a prolific shooting display, Lear was one of my favorite new players to discover all weekend in Pittsburgh.
One of the top scorers in Ohio last year for the 2025 class, Olson was getting buckets for Clyde. I saw exactly why he was so tough to stop at the high school level as Olson shined for the Ohio Buckets -Black 17 U squad. An undersized shooting guard, Olson packs a punch off the bounce. Really creative when attacking off the dribble with how he changes speed and direction. Combine that with elite perimeter shooting ability that stretches out to 25 feet and Olson can score it in a variety of ways. Not the most physically talented defender, Olson makes up for it with his competitiveness and aggression on that end of the court. Really enjoy watching Olson play, looks like a priority small college target in northwest Ohio’s 2025 class.
A solid weekend for Another Level Black, we already talked about Quinn Kwasniak Quinn Kwasniak 6’3″ | SG Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State OH yesterday, so now is the time to feature Wypasek. A high IQ point guard, Wypasek, Ryan Calo Ryan Calo 6’3″ | SF Mentor | 2025 OH and Kwasniak form a three headed monster in the back-court that is tough to defend with the shooting and passing ability of this trio. Wypasek isn’t the leading scorer for his team, but he makes up for it by setting up shooters, playing tough defense and making shots when they come to him. Strongsville had a solid season last year and they return 2025 duo of Josh Byers Josh Byers 6’3″ | SF Strongsville | 2025 OH and Wypasek, projecting them near the top of the conference once again.
Another program that had a really solid weekend, All Ohio Select has hit the ground running this spring and haven’t looked back. The Massillon Jackson guard duo of Mitch Finefrock Mitch Finefrock 6’1″ | SG Massillon Jackson | 2025 State OH and Weekley were both big reasons why they found so much success this weekend. I wanted to spotlight Weekley as a guard who played efficiently in the moments I caught. Knocking down some pull up jumpers, floaters and mid-range shots, Weekley is a guard you want to run off the line but is still capable of making you pay when attacking off the bounce. Really enjoyed watching the All Ohio Select squad play as a unit this weekend, you’ll be hearing more about their team as the spring continues.

It was a strong weekend for Centerville players I caught in Pittsburgh as Ellis is the third player from the Elks program I’m highlighting. It usually doesn’t take long to spot a Centerville player at the grassroots level, they seem to all play with a sense of urgency, make the extra pass and hustle on both ends. All those things could be used to describe Ellis. Ellis showed me more on Saturday than I’d previously seen from his game, making shots off the catch and making an impact defensively. By keeping his role simple, he starred in what he was asked to do and looks like a prospect small college programs will want to add to their roster from southwest Ohio’s 2025 class.
