Reynoldsburg played one of the toughest schedules in the state and were in a lot of marquee battles. They had lots of talent returning from last season but needed somebody to take the reins as the point guard. In steps Griffin from Columbus South, who was expected to be mostly a boost to Reynoldsburg’s football program. Griffin has completely changed the dynamic of the Reynoldsburg offense, giving them a speedy point guard who can break free from pressure and speed the tempo up for their stud wings and forwards to shine in transition. Griffin has also knocked down some clutch shots late in games, helping the Raiders win some close games. Reynoldsburg is still dancing and if they want to win a district title this season, Griffin will likely need to make some big plays.
Another Columbus guard in the 2025 class, Young has been a steady presence for a Westerville North squad that’s looking to break through and finally make it to a district championship this season. I like the defensive effort Young provides, capable of defending 1’s or 2’s due to his quick feet and strong frame. A nice piece in the backcourt offensively for Westerville North and Nova Village next to Tai Perkins Tai Perkins 5’11” | PG Westerville North | 2025 State OH , Young is a capable shot maker from the outside and gets some easy points in transition. A versatile piece who impacts the game at both ends of the floor, I expect college coaches to like what Young brings to the table when they check him out this summer.
Louisville has had one of the best seasons in school history and Siegfried has been the engine behind the offensive juggernaut. One of the top scoring teams in the region, the Leopards get out and run on anybody and everybody. Siegfried’s ability to set the table allowed him set the mark for assists in the area. A high IQ point guard who is a coach’s son, Siegfried gets his teammates involved as good as anybody in northeast Ohio. For the Leopards to win a Division I district title, Siegfried will need to keep up his strong level of play thus far.
Highlights
Not many people know about Stephens as he plays in a small town in the MVL. He just led New Lexington back to the district title game, where they’ll face Vincent Warren in the Convo for a spot in regionals. I love the isolation ability Stephens has to create off the bounce and attack, he’s usually forced into these shots after teams try and take away his 3-point shot. A tough kid who has helped win some big games for his team despite being double-teamed consistently. One of the top players in southeast Ohio, Stephens shouldn’t stay under the radar after coming up big in March once again for his hometown team.
