-Sophomore Spalding guard had a monster performance on a night when his team certainly needed it with 3 guards out with injury or illness. Carter was aggressive from the jump, getting to the rim to finish past the defense and letting it fly from the perimeter. His 19 points in the first half tied the ball game for the Cavaliers heading into halftime and his defense/play-making helped the Cavaliers close it out down the stretch. A shifty playmaker who has tremendous vision and the tight handle needed to navigate through small gaps, his perimeter shooting has taken a leap this season to earn him the starting job. Bright future ahead for this guard.
16p 5r 1a 2s vs John Carroll
-Wilson’s ability to hit tough shots from the perimeter while also finishing above the rim has been key to OLMC’s run this season. Although I would like to see him take strides as a playmaker and defender to round out his game, his ability to make dynamic plays off the bounce will make him a hot commodity on the circuit and going into his junior season.
15p 6a 5r 1b vs John Carroll
-Cannady enjoyed an incredibly well-rounded performance, playing well in tandem with Legree on the perimeter to build up an early SFA lead that JC could not overcome down the stretch. His ability to hit perimeter shots off the ball while creating looks for himself and others off the bounce make him an intriguing name in the 2026 class.
10p 2r 1a vs Calvert Hall
-Ranson fills his role well for the Gaels, often coming in cold off the MSJ bench to hit perimeter shots and handle the rock. His perimeter wiggle and ability to get into his shot quickly off the bounce has won several games for MSJ down the stretch this season. Although he isn’t a lockdown defender, he understands positioning and will get some 50/50 balls or poke-outs from behind by anticipating his opponent’s movements.
Jesse Legree
Jesse Legree
J. Legree 12p 2r 2a
-Although he struggled from the floor in a game that got out of hand midway through the 2Q, Legree still showed value as a perimeter player capable of breaking down his opponent off the bounce and get downhill to make plays for his team. I fully expect his range to improve in the next 18 months to hit more perimeter shots off the bounce, although his midrange pull-ups have looked fluid. Legree certainly projects as one of the more versatile scoring prospects in the 2026 DMV class.
Junior Mancho
Junior Mancho
J. Mancho 6p 10r 1a
-Mancho’s raw athleticism and motor stand out even though the ball skills aren’t necessarily there yet. He bothers a ton of shots around the rim and takes pride in the little things like setting screens, kicking out to shooters after offensive boards in traffic, and sprinting the floor at top speed. He moves well for a big north-south but will need to improve his hip fluidity to move better laterally on the defensive end of the floor. Interesting prospect to track in a 2027 DMV class that doesn’t have a ton of size.
J. Westervelt 6p 3r 3a 3s
-Westervelt doesn’t move the needle much offensively right now as someone that can create his own shot or take guys off the bounce but he functions well as a good connector for this John Carroll offense. He does a great job of reading the help and knowing where the ball needs to get to whether it’s in his hands at the moment or not, often directing traffic from the top of the key for the Patriots. With good size (at least 6’5) and a strong frame, he carves out space and positions himself in the right spot to grab rebounds before finding a teammate or finishing himself. An effective wing prospect to track in the 2027 class.
