Prep Hoops Indiana Daily (2/9) – Friday Night Games to Watch

We also will be your one stop shop after the games go final later this evening for all the news and notes from around the state. Let's dive right in and highlight five of the best games taking place on Friday night.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ben Davis @ Lawrence North</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team that has spent most of this season as the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 4A #1 ranked team against last' season's Class 4A undefeated state champions. Northwestern signee [player_tooltip player_id='1158204' first='K.J.' last='Windham'] will look to prove that his Giants are still a legitimate contender. As for the Wildcats of Lawrence North, junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1296979' first='Azavier' last='Robinson'] and senior running mate [player_tooltip player_id='1158213' first='Kobi' last='Bowles'] lead what is the best backcourt in the state of Indiana. The depth of Lawrence North, including sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='1729136' first='Brennan' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'] inside, could be the difference in this one. There are a lot of really good options in the Indianapolis area, but this is certainly a great game to attend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chesterton @ Portage</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If you are up in northern Indiana this evening this will be the game to circle for you. These Duneland Conference and Sectional 2 rivals will take the floor this evening featuring a lot of talent. Portage is 11-8 with junior [player_tooltip player_id='1297094' first='Michael' last='Wellman'] having an Indiana Junior All-Star caliber season averaging 13.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1275800' first='Jaelyn' last='Johnson'] adds 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297027' first='Garrett' last='Clark'] is another name to know. Chesterton comes in at 11-7 featuring two standout seniors in [player_tooltip player_id='1275807' first='Tyler' last='Parrish'] and Marian commit [player_tooltip player_id='1158231' first='Justin' last='Sims']. Expect to see some Crossroads League coaches in the stands of this matchup doing some recruiting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cathedral @ Fishers</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This Class 4A Top 10 battle will rival the Lawrence North vs. Ben Davis game for supremacy in the Indianapolis area this evening. Fishers has a pair of impressive wins over Westfield and Homewood-Flossmoor out of Illinois to get back on track following their upset loss against Carmel. The Tigers are 18-1 on the season led by unsigned senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2079500' first='Keenan' last='Garner']. Meanwhile, Cathedral is 13-3 featuring 6'8" junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1525663' first='Brady' last='Koehler'] who has had a fantastic season. Look for sophomore wing [player_tooltip player_id='1561135' first='Keaton' last='Aldridge Jr']. to be a potential X-Factor in this one for the Irish, but Tigers depth of talent is hard to handle.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jeffersonville @ Center Grove</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For those fans on the south side of Indianapolis you'll want to make your way to Center Grove High School to watch them take on Jeffersonville. The Trojans have rattled off seven straight wins and have won 10 of their last 11 games. They absolutely deserve to be considered a legitimate threat in Class 4A at this point. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1158238' first='Joey' last='Schmitz'] is having an outstanding season while classmate [player_tooltip player_id='1547488' first='Will' last='Spellman'] holds things down on the interior. Coach Hahn has a veteran, deep team with a lot of talent. Jeffersonville is playing their best basketball of the season as well having won four straight and six of their last seven. Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas'] are the headliners for the Red Devils.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kokomo @ Richmond</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good, old-fashioned North Central Conference matchup will take place this evening at the Tiernan Center. [player_tooltip player_id='1296998' first='Cedric' last='Horton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1170053' first='Mason' last='Carpenter'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1275899' first='Braiden' last='Hogg'] continue to lead Richmond to an outstanding season even while they are missing [player_tooltip player_id='1384402' first='Ryder' last='Cate'] due to an injury. They are 18-2 on the season. Meanwhile, Kokomo has taken over the #1 ranking in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 4A Poll after winning eight straight to improve to 17-3. Obviously Kansas signee [player_tooltip player_id='1363488' first='Flory' last='Bidunga'] is the headliner, but fellow senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2282357' first='Karson' last='Rogers'] has had an excellent season as well.
