Most of these seniors have battled each other multiple times over their varsity careers and good bit of them have either eclipsed or nearing the 1,000 point mark in their careers. This group of uncommitted guards should garner the attention of coaches at smaller school should encourage them to take a serious look into all of them.
Kymel is a highly talented Combo Guard whose ability has to be accounted for on every scouting report of any opposing coach. He’s strong with the ball, has amazing court vision, and plays with great tempo. His ability to get paint touches and finish around the rim puts pressure on opposing defenders, and creates opportunities that showcase his playmaking abilities and allow others to get involved on offense. During the travel season, Kymel has played against high level talent including high and mid major recruits and has performed well. He scored his 1000th point as a Junior, last season, and hasn’t let up. He should be on a lot of coaches short list of potential recruits and signees in this class.
Charles Cunningham
Charles Cunningham
Charles “Birdy” Cunningham is another hidden gem in Northeast GA. He’s a smooth ball handler that has nice footwork when finishing around the basket. He is a sniper from deep shooting 46% from behind the arc. Birdy looks to get others involved and his ability to put the ball on the floor, knock down the midrange shot, allows him to find open teammates and often. He’s averaging right at 20 points per game, and as his confidence continues to grow look to see his point and assist totals increase the second half of the season.
Javaun hit the 1000 point mark in the first half of the season, and he hasn’t taken his foot off the gas. He hasn’t played the typical amount of travel basketball as most of his peers, and that’s one of the more intriguing aspects about him. Although he’s missed out on valuable reps, he’s still a college talent. He’s a long, lanky 6’5″ Guard that often times runs brings the ball down the floor and initiates the offense. He’s definitely one of the best shooters in the state and has an effortless release, even when 3-5ft from behind the arc. Javaun is effective in his drives to the basket and shoots with great efficiency, with a good feel for the mid range game. As he gets strong and more aggressive with his touches, he can find himself being on the watchlist of mid to high major programs after a year or two at a smaller program.
Justin’s game has been trending upward all season and it doesn’t look like that’s going to stop any time soon. At first glance, he can look undersized, but after the ball is tipped it’s evident that this kid can play. He handles the ball well, driving right or left, and always has head on the swivel, surveying the court at all times. He’s the type of PG that has a knack for making the right play consistently. Justin finishes through contact well, knocks down the 3 ball with regularity, and most importantly, he controls the pace of play in both transition and in the half court game. His dribble moves are crafty and if he has an open lane to the basket his dunking ability can be put on display. He has a very high upside and should be getting offers soon.
Jay Carruth Jay Carruth 5’8″ | PG Madison County | 2024 State GA is another Guard in 2024 that has eclipsed the 1000 point mark. He’s arguably the quickest and shiftiest guard in Northeast GA. He is hard to defend and his ability to change direction allows him drive the lane often while scoring and making plays from within the paint. Jay is a true PG that’s a playmaking facilitator, which is why college coaches should be giving him some heavy and serious consideration. Scoring 1000 points as a pass-first guard is an incredible achievement. As Madison County’s Floor General, he’s one of the reasons they are ranked within the Top 10 in Georgia’s Class 4A.
