Jay Carruth Jay Carruth 5'8" | PG Madison County | 2024 State GA is another Guard in 2024 that has eclipsed the 1000 point mark. He’s arguably the quickest and shiftiest guard in Northeast GA. He is hard to defend and his ability to change direction allows him drive the lane often while scoring and making plays from within the paint. Jay is a true PG that’s a playmaking facilitator, which is why college coaches should be giving him some heavy and serious consideration. Scoring 1000 points as a pass-first guard is an incredible achievement. As Madison County’s Floor General, he’s one of the reasons they are ranked within the Top 10 in Georgia’s Class 4A.

The Region 8-4A Player of the Year is a sparkplug. He’s a quick playmaker that can score when needed, but really likes to establish his high-octane shooters first. When Carruth does look for his points, he squirms past defenders before pulling up from the mid-range or craftily finishing in traffic.

Carruth was a big factor as to why the Red Raiders were able to hang on for a signature road win. In the second half the little guard started hurting the Titans with dribble penetration once they had to come out of the zone. Jay squirted into the lane, finishing with floaters and racking up fouls as he went 7-8 from the free throw line. What really impressed me was Carruth’s passing. He’s dangerous in transition with how well he pitches the ball ahead and when he’s in the half court, he makes pocket passes off the dribble to free up teammates. Carruth tallied 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.
