South Mecklenburg High (13-0)
The Sabres are off to a hot start with Peter Moye Peter Moye 6'3" | SG South Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC , Anderson Skelton Anderson Skelton 6'4" | CG South Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC , Ben Houpt Ben Houpt 6'4" | SG South Mecklenburg | 2026 State NC and Myles Howard Myles Howard 6'5" | SF South Mecklenburg | 2025 State NC leading the charge. With Myers Park, Olympic and Ardrey Kell in the South Meck Conference, they’ll have their work cut out for them. They’ve got Richmond Senior High on the schedule this Saturday in non-conference action then they’ll resume league play on Jan. 9 against Ardrey Kell on the road.
Central Cabarrus High (11-0)
It’s been 43 wins and counting for the defending 3A State Champions heading into 2024. Chase Daniel Chase Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC and Carson Daniel Carson Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC have been formidable as ever in the backcourt while Desmond Kent Jr Desmond Kent Jr 6'5" | SF Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC and Joshua Dalton Joshua Dalton 6'9" | PF NC remain unsigned seniors for DI programs to take notice of. They’re a favorite in the South Piedmont Conference as they kick off action Wednesday night against Northwest Cabarrus High at home.
South Stokes High (11-0)
Barry Hairston Barry Hairston 6'2" | CG South Stokes | 2024 State NC Jr. has the South Stokes Sauras playing a strong brand of basketball. He took home the MVP award at the Frank Spencer Invitational with 17 points against Mount Tabor High in the championship game to end 2023. He’s a name for DII and DIII programs to get to know after recently surpassing the 1,000-point mark, Brady Clark Brady Clark 5'10" | PG South Stokes | 2026 NC and Isiah Lash Isiah Lash 6'5" | SF South Stokes | 2024 State NC are also names to know with this group. They’ll resume Northwest Conference play on Friday against Mount Airy (3-3).
Green Level High (11-0)
The Gators traveled to Tampa Bay and went 3-0 to take home the Sun Bash Tournament Championship to close out 2023. They’re an early favorite to take home the Southeast Wake Athletic Conference title in 2023-24 with a strong cast of players. Tye Cain led the way as he continues to raise his stock in the 2024 class. Isaac Ericksen Isaac Ericksen 6'8" | SF Green Level | 2025 State NC , Israel Eatman Israel Eatman 6'4" | CG Green Level | 2025 State NC and Trey Manhertz Trey Manhertz 6'6" | PF Green Level | 2024 State NC are names to know as well.
Davie High (11-0)
Jackson Powers Jackson Powers 6'6" | PF Davie | 2025 State NC , Bryson Mickey Bryson Mickey 6'0" | CG Davie | 2025 NC and Coleman Lawhon Coleman Lawhon 6'1" | CG Davie | 2024 State NC have Davie High off to a strong start as they’re coming off a championship in the Ledford Christmas Classic. Powers took home MVP honors with 23 points, six rebounds and four blocks in the title game. Mickey gad 15 points, three rebounds and two assists while Lawhon dished out 10 assists in the title game. They’re an unselfish bunch to keep an eye on as they resume Central Piedmont Conference tonight.
Hickory High (9-0)
Izaiah Littlejohn Izaiah Littlejohn 6'5" | SF Hickory | 2024 State NC , John Holbrook John Holbrook 6'8" | PF Hickory | 2024 State NC and Jamien Little Jamien Little 6'1" | SG Hickory | 2025 State NC are a few of the names to know for the Red Tornadoes as they look to be a force in the Western Foothills Conference once again. All three are averaging double-figures in scoring and pacing a deep group of prospects on the hardwood. They’ve got a big meeting coming up this Friday night with a matchup against North Lincoln High in league play.
New Hanover High (9-0)
The Wildcats are 9-0 and 2-0 in the Mideastern Conference already as they defeated Holly Springs, 53-42, to close out their 2023 schedule. They’ve beaten some top 4A programs already with Rodmik Allen Rodmik Allen 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC , Nolan Billings Nolan Billings 6'5" | PF New Hanover | 2025 State NC and CJ Kornegay CJ Kornegay 6'5" | SF New Hanover | 2025 State NC leading the charge for them. They’re a young group who play well together on both ends of the floor.
Reidsville High (7-0)
Fresh off their John Wall Holiday Invitational title, Reidsville High looks prime to make another run to the state title game with Dionte Neal Dionte Neal 5'10" | PG Reidsville | 2026 State NC , Kendre Harrison Kendre Harrison 6'8" | C Reidsville | 2026 State NC and Johnniyus Sharpe Johnniyus Sharpe 6'2" | CG Reidsville | 2025 State NC leading the way. They’ve proven to be a tough cover so far as the mid-season point approaches. They’ll look to stay unbeaten with Western Guilford High sand Walkertown on the schedule this week.
Bertie High (7-0)
The Falcons are back and already taking the 1A ranks by storm with their 7-0 start. Zy’miere Dempsey, Jahkelvin Rascoe Jahkelvin Rascoe 5'9" | PG Bertie | 2024 State NC and Tequan Holley have been their leading names on the hardwood. As Trevon Holleran Trevon Holleran 6'2" | CG Bertie | 2024 State NC returns to form, look for them to be a force in the Three Rivers Conference.
South Central High (7-0)
Troy Loftin Troy Loftin 6'2" | CG South Central | 2024 State NC , Ean Behm Ean Behm 6'4" | SF South Central | 2024 State NC , Michael Bowens Michael Bowens 5'10" | CG South Central | 2024 State NC and Isaiah Godley Isaiah Godley 6'4" | CG South Central | 2025 State NC are a few of the names to know with the South Central Falcons. Godley has started to come into his own in the last three games as a double-digit scoring threat and rebounder. They’re a squad in the 252 area to keep eyes on in the 3A/4A Big Carolina Conference.
