Expert Analysis
Miles Masercola | Prep Hoops Scout
Houpt has become a really high level producer in his time in high school as a really well rounded addition to any backcourt. He can play on or off the basketball with his ability to both make plays off the bounce and connect on shots from the outside. Houpt has taken a leap in role each season, making him very prepared to be a primary guy this season. He’s averaging 17.1 Points, 3.7 Rebounds, and 2.6 Assists per game on the season so far. He’s a really smooth shot maker, capable of hitting shots from deep as he’s shot 40% from there over the course of his high school career and should eclipse over 200 makes. Houpt is a no brainer next level guy that should continue to garner more and more collegiate attention.

Houpt is a lead guard who can fill it up from deep; he was a consistent presence in the NC Spartans backcourt in the HoopGroup Academic League where he went off for 30 points and six 3-pointers recently; he’s a smooth operator who doesn’t force the issue and makes tough/tight reads when on the hardwood; all he needs is a bit of space to show off his perimeter prowess

The unique blend of size, shooting, and playmaking was on full display over the event. When his shot is falling, he’s a threat, if not, he can still attack the rim, create for others, and make smart decisions. At 6’5″, he’s already pulling college-level interest, and he looks primed for a bigger summer and senior season come November.

He has impressive range on his shot and at his height, understands how to use it to his advantage to shoot over smaller opponents.
