Gatehouse is back running with Top Shot UAA 17u as he is mulling a post-grad year and reclassification to 2027 but he was on a mission this weekend helping propel his team to a 2-0 record at The Big Shots Charlotte Showtime event. Gatehouse had a game with 24 Points, all coming from beyond the arc as he connected on eight triples in a win over USC Unleashed EYCL. Gatehouse’s combination of outside touch, confidence in his overall game, and athleticism make him a very interesting prospect to watch as the portal runs its course over the next month, Gatehouse might find himself in a situation where he has schools recruiting him as a late addition. If he stays the course as a 2027, he has a chance to get a bevy of next level opportunities as he’s simply a high level prospect with multiple translatable skills. UAA is the first circuit in session in KC on April 17-19, if he can play out there at the same level we’ve seen him do to start the travel ball season + his senior year at South Meck, he’ll see his stock rise quickly.

Like his teammate mentioned above Gatehouse had a nice all around performance. The lanky wing finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and two steals with 12 of his point a coming when his team needed them in the second half.

Another massive riser in the latest rankings update, Gatehouse is much more than a combo guard given his length at 6-foot-4 and ability to be a presence on both ends of the floor. He battles for boards and plays unselfish in his approach, finding openings to both score the ball and finish at the rim with authority. He’s one of a few names to get to know with South Mecklenburg High this upcoming season.

Gatehouse is quickly lining up to be a stockriser through this summer after a big time Sunday, going for 33 and 20 in his groups last two wins. He has great feel and really knows how to score the ball, hitting shots from all over the floor in his games this weekend. Smooth looking jumper where he both spotted up and made shots on the move, an essential for the role he is going to take on next year at South Meck as a perimeter scoring option. With a good frame and solid lateral movement, he can guard at a decent level too.

Gatehouse was disrupted by an injury during high school season, but is looking to continue to return to top form this AAU season and make a name for himself. He’s always been an elite scorer, with fluidity and an ability to knock down shots or get to the rim. He’s developed a continued great feel for the game, as well as being able to play without the ball in his hands and not be the dominant, focal point within his team at the high school level. He continues to be a fun guy to watch, and a stockriser to monitor.

Gatehouse brought his aggressive, physical brand of basketball back to our viewing on Sunday and we continued to be impressed. Not many guards at his age are willing to constantly attack with his intensity and IQ, as he relentlessly attacked the cup even when things weren’t going for him. However, he was still picking his spots nicely and wasn’t forcing it like some others at the camp. Hit a few jumpers which have always been a plus part of his game. Continuing to show why he should have a big year at South Meck as a sophomore.

Gatehouse is a name that make his debut in the 2026 rankings and looks to continue to showcase his abilities on the floor. He’s a prospect out of South Mecklenburg High who was a presence off the bench in the varsity rotation in Year 1 and should develop into quite the role player as a sophomore.

is a prospect at South Mecklenburg that’s shown signs he’s ready to tuhe corner this grassroots season with Team Griggs. He’s confident handling the ball on the break and doesn’t hesitate to maneuver in traffic and get to the paint, where good things tend to happen. He’ll certainly look to fill a void for a varsity squad that will field a much younger group than it did in 2022-23.

Gatehouse is getting better and better by the week as a combo guy who also shoots it well. Above average jumper and can shoot it off the catch or dribble in multiple areas of the floor. Seems to be in control and ahead of the game when it comes to IQ, pace, and court awareness, as he doesn’t throw up wild shots or make a boneheaded play. He plays within himself, doesn’t hold the ball for too long, and consistently does what he wants to do on offense. Defensively he is not really a factor, but there’s still plenty of time for that to change. Having his IQ and patience as a rising sophomore is rare, and should make plenty of schools take notice when the time comes.
