This was my second time watching Whitmer play this year and I was just as impressed again with Leach. He has truly found a home for him because he looks like he can just play so freely. He is a great acrobatic finisher with both hands. He had an eye-opening dunk in the half-court last night. What showed through to me was his defensive ability. He is a great athlete and can apply some next-level defensive pressure. His length caused a ton of turnovers. He can guard multiple positions due to his length. I love what I have been seeing from Leach this season.
Henlon was impressive against Detroit Country Day. Sandusky is a team that thrives off of defense, creating turnovers, and getting fast break points Henlon is the one that runs the offense in the half-court. He did a great job of doing this all night of the Blue Streaks. He is a short but very strong guard who can get anywhere he wants on the court. He is the leader of the Sandusky team. He showed good decision-making and court vision. He got his teammates involved but at the same time knew when to be aggressive. He showed some great on-ball pressure on the defensive end as well. He got in the opposing guards’ shorts and didn’t let them breathe. If you were loose with the ball at all, Henlon turned you over. Impressive perforce from this very underrated junior point guard.
Highlights
Jai’den Guerra-Howard
Jai’den Guerra-Howard
Guerra-Howard was one of the very few bright spots for Lorain last night. His game is tough to stop. He is going to always get his. He does a really good job of just getting to his spot and raising up for his jumper. He doesn’t always have space but he made a ton of tough shots. He has great size for a point guard. He dictates contact very well due to his size and strength. He showed some really good decision-making all night as well. He sees the floor extremely well. He threw some dimes to his teammates. Showed high basketball IQ and along with being a good passer, that’s what you want out of your point guard.
Cast is going to be a special player. This kid is super talented and skilled. He plays with a great pace and changes speed super well. He is ultra smooth. He moves very fluidly and smoothly along his jumper is super smooth. Cast has some great ball handling and moves. He attacked the defenders’ top foot, made their hips shift, and then attacked. He has a smooth high arching shot. He is quick and shifty which makes himself hard to defend. He has some long arms. This freshman will go on to be a big-time player and name you will see at the next level.
Zayvion Everson
Zayvion Everson
Everyone is a next-level athlete. This kid can jump out of the gym. He got the ball in transition and his head was at the backboard. He showed some great finishing and touch around the rim for the Titans. This junior is listed as 5’11 and has some freaky long arms. He is a wirey athlete who can defend too. He has the ability to lock down a ton of guards. His athleticism and length can allow him to pressure and get turnovers.
Anthony Redding
Anthony Redding
Redding is a tall and super long sophomore wing that I really like from Sandusky. He has a ton of potential because he seems like he could still get taller. He hit a three and showed some smooth and nice form. He is definitely someone who has a ton of potential and someone I am buying stock in.
