10 Freshman to Watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the best parts of a new season is following the talent that is coming in as freshman.&nbsp; There has already been quite a bit of buzz with the 2027 class in Illinois.&nbsp; Here are a few of the players that are creating that excitement!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323571' first='Jaxson' last='Davis'] (Warren)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davis is a dynamic lefty point guard that has a lot of Jalen Brunson to his game.&nbsp; Both from the north suburbs.&nbsp; Both southpaws.&nbsp; Both lethal scorers!&nbsp; He dropped 40+ in a 17u PHC game in the spring.&nbsp; Kid is going to be the guy from day one!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125612' first='Devin' last='Cleveland'] (Kenwood)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cleveland lit up June with his high school team showcasing his ability to score it.&nbsp; He had 30+ point games during the live period for a team that already has enough D1 prospects you can count on two hands.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323624' first='Davion' last='Thompson'] (Bolingbrook)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thompson had his breakout game in June against DGN where he went head to head with Stanton in front of a ton of college coaches and more than held his own on both ends.&nbsp; Scored from all three level, passing flair, and can really defend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323647' first='Howard' last='Williams'] (Whitney Young)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Williams will see key minutes early and often for the Dolphins.&nbsp; Strong bodied small forward that brings athleticism, defense, and transition scoring.&nbsp; Ton of upside here!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323677' first='Camron' last='Dunson-Riggs'] (Normal West)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Perhaps the best young prospect in central Illinois has a ton of buzz after a strong summer with Team Teague.&nbsp; Athletic wing that provides multi level scoring and explosion around the hoop.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125677' first='Reggie' last='Stevens'] (St. Laurence)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Strong bodied combo guard that can score playing both on and off the ball.&nbsp; Good pull up game as well as shooting off the catch.&nbsp; Finishes well through traffic at the rim.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2194410' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] (St. Laurence)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>High IQ guard with an excellent feel as a distributor getting others involved with his passing while scoring with athleticism and craftiness around the hoop.  Shined playing up with the [program_tooltip program_id='2075383' first='Chicago' last='Demons'] 15U in July.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323599' first='Jamarri' last='Fears'] (Joliet West)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>They youngest of the Fears brothers will make his debut this season for Joliet West. The lefty looks very similar to Jeremiah physically with a long and rangy frame that he should continue to grow along with a smooth game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125658' first='Kendall' last='Meyers'] (Marist)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On a young and talented team Meyers is another guard to watch out for. Explosive scorer with size at 6'3" that should be impactful from day 1!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
