The Arkansas commit took a lot of tough contested shots in this game where he racked up 21 points (5-13 FG) (3-7 3PT) (8-8 FT).  I thought the best part of his game was when he was assertive attacking downhill getting to the line using his physicality in the paint to draw contact while shooting perfect from the line.

Despite it coming in a loss, Thompson turned in one of the most impressive individual performances at day one of the Peach Jam. The Arkansas commit is simply so explosive off of the bounce. It is nearly impossible to stay in front of him when he is attacking the basket. Thompson finished with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists while shooting 4-8 from beyond the arc for Meanstreets 17u on Tuesday. He is absolutely one of the top point guards in the country. Coach Calipari got another very good one.

One of the elite shooters nationally, Thompson was cooking from long distance during Thursday’s nightcap and hit maybe the shot of the day with a nasty pull-up 3-pointer late in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter after Dynamic Prep had taken a one point lead, Thompson gave Link their last lead of the game with an and-1 layup with just under 90 seconds left. One of the most talented 2027 scorers in the country, Thompson showed why he’s so highly regarded on Thursday night.

-Came away admiring Thompson’s ability to play on or off the ball as a guard prospect with great feel. Thompson attacks closeouts well, is very efficient in his shot selection, makes sure to find his bigs and his shooters in transition, and plays with great pace off the bounce. Love the way that he reads the defense before attacking closeouts to know where to draw the help defenders to create an open look for his teammate. Being that efficient even in shortened minutes after his team grew big leads impressed the courtside college coaches and scouts in attendance.

Thompson carried his team throughout their game against Vashon.  Started off with a pair of bombs from deep showing off his deep range.  Then went to work off the dribble where he won consistently with drives as he set his finishing moves up with crosses and spins getting in the lane for scores.  Mixed in floaters, and-1s, and coast to coast takes for conversions at the rim en route to 24 points.
