So instead, I’m opting to break down prospects by area. Here’s a look at the top players in Lexington and surrounding areas. This list is not meant to be a ranking of best college prospects. More of a list of best overall players in the area.
At this point, Malachi is the top college prospect in Kentucky, regardless of class. Hovering in the top 30-50 in America depending on where you look, Moreno is an imposing force on defense and his offense has come lightyears in the last two to three seasons.
Dawson is one of the smoothest playmakers in the state and has shown he can score or distribute whenever he wants. Moreno gets the spotlight at Great Crossing but Vince is equally as important to the Warhawks’ success.

A big time athlete whose skill level continues to rise every time I see him, Melo is a highlight reel at times with his ability to posterize opponents or get hot from three. Boone has high upside as an on ball defender, too.
If you’re looking for a player who impacts winning, Custard does more for his team than about anyone else in Kentucky. The two sport star has offers in both football and basketball and is primed for a big Senior season where Harrison County has goals of making it to Rupp Arena.
Highlights
Rose will graduate Madison Southern as one of the best players in school history. A good athlete with a smooth jumper, Jay continues improving as a ball handler and playmaker and will be a scholarship level player in college.
Highlights
Doyle committed to Bellarmine early and sat out AAU all spring and summer so he’s been in the gym working on his game. I’m interested to see how he looks as Senior and he’ll be relied upon to be one of the main cogs for a rebuilding Lexington Catholic team.
Probably the most athletic kid in Kentucky, Aveion has power 5 offers in football but could just as easily earn offers on the basketball court over the next year. Chenault is blessed with a 39 inch vertical and he uses it to make some of the silliest dunk highlights Kentucky has seen lately.
Mentioned recently as an X Factor, Godfrey is in the position at Great Crossing where he gets the benefit of playing alongside the two best players in the region. As a result, Jeremiah gets a lot of open looks on offense and is able to roam around and grab rebounds on the defensive end.
Moving over from Lafayette this summer, expect Surratt to make a big impact for the reigning 11th region champs this season. Already holding 2 D1 offers, DeMarcus is in the mix as a top player in the class in 2026.
Highlights
The only freshman on the list, Tyce has 3 D1 offers before he plays his first high school game. Long and athletic with a growing skill set, Tyce will compete with Surratt to be the top player in the area once all the 2025s are off to college.
